Waste Gate Dump Tube?
Hey guys, is there any benefit to venting the dump tube to the atmosphere or should it be routed into the main exhaust. I have my separate right now and its too bloody loud! I can't hear the turbo spooling at all. But regardless of the sound in which it makes, is there any performance benefits or is it less harmfull on the car?. I don't frign know, some people have told me that its better to just simply vent it but without a reason. Any clarification on this would be awsome. Thanx.
normally..I would tell you to do a search, because we have discussed this on numerous occasions...but since the archives are still screwed...here's the answer:
dumping to the atmosphere does produce more power than a poorly routed dump tube. with a well routed dump tube, you will see less power degradation.
The dump tube should be routed a few inches away from the cat for maximum performance.

Thanx for the response...btw, if the archives were working i would not have posted this thread. How much of a power loss? is it going to be significant? what is the most common setup, re-routed or vented? For all those that vent to the atmosphere, doesn't the sound of the dump tube drown out all other engine noises including your exhaust. Like stated before i can't hear a dam thing except the horrible sound of the exhaust under my hood. Thanx.
