Default Walboro 255 Failure

So ive been running this pump for like 2 1/2 years now probleme free.Today I am going down the highway and my car starts skipping like a plug wire had fallen off.Soon after the car had shut off. My first reaction was my POS MSD blaster coil had gone bad or maybe the MSD box. After further investigation I had found that the car still had spark.

At this point I had noticed I only have 18PSI of fuel. When I checked my plugs I saw that the one closest to the fuel rail inlet was the richest and the one closest to the return was showing signs of it being lean.

I changed my filter and my main relay with no results.Sometimes the car will start for a second and once u hit the throttle it starts skipping and then dies.

Im thinking maybe my INtank filter mybe clogged but i dont want to drop the tank just to relize the filter and pump are operational.

Help me out here guys, thanks.

pull a injector and see if it fires when you crank the motor, also see if u can hear the pump working.

Take your car to a very quite place. Before you start your car, click the ignition over (dont start it); CEL light will come on and you should be able to hear the pump priming, after it primes the CEL will turn off again.. Even a stock fuel pump is easy to hear, you shouldnt have a problem hearing the Walbro.

I can hear the pump turn on but it doesnt sound right and I CANT rember what it sounded like before.I have no idea what else it could be.The only thing i would think is the main relay isnt clicking it on.

Try another FPR?

I didn't know you had to drop the tank to get to the pump (EF in your sig?) I have EK

New pump is only $100.00, I was not aware that the tank had to dropped also, thought it was accessed under the rear seat.

you dont have to drop your tank to change pump.. you need a 17mm socket and a 10 mm socket... lift up your seat and check out the filters... also your fuel flter itself could be getting clogged, when was the last time you changed that...fpr should read 44psi at idle.. and if he is running an hp pump they cost closer to 175$ not 100...

Actually, both the standard 255 and the HP 255 cost around $100.

I'd check the FPR. Those fail a lot, whereas I've never heard of a Walbro failing.

So I just dropped my tank, and u DO have to drop that bitch.I hardwired the pump to 12v and its not one smooth wine, but instead its like a pulsing.

There arent any otrher filters in the system correct?

I tried turning up the FP a couple days before and noticed the gauge was pulsing like the pump is now.The FP did not go up and stayed at about 40.Rember this was before this probleme started, a couple days before.

If my FPR is bad then why did I have 18 LBS.Today before I dropped the tank it went to about 10, then 12 then like 15PSI.

Does anybody know the resistance of my pump and where to check it.I cant find my Haynes manual.

Thanks guys.

How much gas do you have in the car? the filter could have came off and that makes it so you have to have atleast 1/4 tank or a little more.

Well its for about a 1/4 tank.I just changed the FPR and tried it with the walboro and still nothing over 20PSI.I found my stocker that im going to toss in and see whats up.

I wish I knew the resistance between the walboro.

it will make a pullsating sound if its not picking the fuel up right. .. to me it would be worth trying to put 2 more gallons of gas in to see if that works rather then droping the tank.

but its the fuel pump either way, get out there and drop it.
