VTEC problem in boost
does he have an oil pressure switch? if so check it. it should read as a closed circuit at lower rpms and an open circuit at higher rpms. if these fail to open the circuit and remove ground from its input on the ecu, vtec will disengage in 3rd and the cel will turn on. also connecting the vtec wire to the oil pressure switch wire as suggested earlier isnt the correct way to solve this issue and does not fool every ecu. if you are not running a pressure switch, then you can use a relay to connect a ground wire to the pressure switch wire then trigger the relay with the vtec wire to open the pressure switch circuit. or just turn it off in crome.
it's a better idea to take it off and send voltage to it, and ground the case. See if the pintle moves. Just because resistance checks out doesn't mean that it always works. Do it couple times see if it sticks.
