Vitara piston help
People have run them both ways. I have them pointing towards the crank pulley, "JFK" as well as "FJT" I believe ran them this way and made 400+hp with no problems. Everything that I read now shows that people who run them pointing toward the flywheel experience less of the diesel chug noise commonly associated with these pistons.
cause i have them pointing toward the crank and the valve relief seem to be bigger for the exhaust side. so i was planning to turn it to the flywheel side and have the bigger valve relief for the intake valve. anyone notice them bigger so am i seeing things?

although I built my 76mm vitara before this was realized, and my arrows are toward the t-belt. I don't have any noise at all.

mine point towards the flywheel, runs great, 350whp nonvtec.
remember, on the grand vitara the exhaust and IM are in opposing locations to hondas in respect to the trans location.

mine was pointed towards the timing belt (i just looked at pics to confirm) and it was quiet and made 405whp...honestly i dont think it matters, i dont remember the wrist pin being offsett.
Either way will work the "correct" method is to have the arrows pointing to the Flywheel.
this way both the valve releifs are in the correct position and the very minor wristpin offset is correctly oriented.
Again either way will work.
