Variable Nozzle Turbine, any B series builds I can look at?
I'm looking for any B series builds that have used VNT turbos.
My Uncle has one in his Chrysler Daytona and swears that they are the best.
I understand how they work (he did a good job explaining it) and I have been doing research on them. The new VW TDI comes with one.
As far as I can tell, heat is an issue for the vanes inside.
The idea of making full boost before 3000 rpm sounds nice.
I'm looking for some builds using the VNT but I can't find anything Honda related. Is it more practical to just go with a Garrett GT28 on a B16 aiming for 250-300ish WHP?
I've read that they give 8psi during low RPM and 15psi during high RPM. I've also heard that the vanes sometimes stick, causing it to just give 15psi constantly.

The problem is not finding the turbo, it is building the controller. You will be spending a fortune and getting very little reward for doing so.

If you listen closely, there is an audible groan coming from the distance.
I searched but didn't see the one below me. Lol.
It has all the info I needed.
What I wonder is, how does he get away with his VNT on his Daytona? He says there is little to no tuning capabilities with his car, and, it makes impressive power. The old GM's can't have that sophisticated of a controller, can they?

When I was searching GOOGLE for the OTHER thread I came across a Variable geometry turbo that was vacuum diaphragm actuated (like a wastegate). It’s very simple and 2 dimensional, zero fine tuning and not the best performance possible.

DO IT ON ALL FOURS

Not only that, but why don't you ask your "Uncle" what he is doing for management? The audacity of some children!!!
Also, there is plenty of support for "old GM" tuning. Look around. You OBVIOUSLY aren't searching very hard.
A 250-300whp B16 would be MORE than a waste of time for a variable turbo setup. You obviously have never used a GT28R turbo on a B16 before if you are worried about full boost under 3,000 RPM...

I never thought to search for GM tuning to be honest... or to ask him about his engine management. Hmm...
I'll keep looking at small, quality, journal bearing turbos then. ball bearing is too 'spensive.

You would do well to keep your build simple and focus on getting your basics solid, especially since this if your first one. Keep your head out of anything that is going to complicate what you're doing, you can bury yourself real quick.
