valvetrain question

Default valvetrain question

i have a b16 i want to know if it would hurt to run oem valve retainer with supertech valve springs. Im running delta cam 272.

There is not a for sure answer. Some people say OEM retainers are fine and others say TI retainers are better and so on. TI retainers are stronger and lighter than the stock ones and since you have cams and then your getting springs I would go with a TI retainer. They are not that much and since you have a stiffer spring I wouldn't rely on OEM retainers. TI retainers do wear I heard but as long as you pop your valve cover off here and there and don't see any chips or anything I think you'd be good. I have heard of OEM retainers cracking and causing damage have not heard of a TI retainer failing.

I daily drive a flatblack 98 teg (beater) for now. I've been working on a LS-T for the last year and a half I think you commented it my build thread before.
