Have your machine shop check for valve wobble too. Poor valve seal can be caused by worn valve guides.

I could see valve wobble causing issues when the valve is open but with the valve closed under full tension from the valve spring it seems like to me it screams valve seat/valve wear

It happened to me with my new head. Had .003" side to side wobble. Hammered the valves out of round because they arent square in the seat.

ah, yea now I can see how valve wobble would cause the valve to hit the seat at a goofy angle making it wear funny

The head is already off. You need to lap the valves at a bare minimum. You can get a lapping tool and compound for a DIY project at autozone. Its simple.

checked the valves with the proper vacuum tool. exhaust were mediocre and intake were bad. the intake were the ones that leaked a bit.
