Default VAFC and Timing

I have searched for this and cannot really find anything specifically covering this topic.

Hopefully someone has experience with this and something close to my setup......or .......just a real guru!

Setup:

D16Y8
Drag Gen III
DSM 450's
VAFC (hack)
Cometic HP gasket
Inline fuel pump

I am curious as to what my timing should be. As of right now I am unable to get to a dyno, which I know would be best. But, until I do, what is recommended as far as timing?

im running a 4 degree retard right now and mine is tuned at 8psi. i think i am making decent power but i know more can be made. i ordered an MSD BTM so imma get back on the dyno and see how much more i can put down.

i turned the dizzy to retard the ignition timing by an overly safe -3 degrees. it robbed the engine of power, but it was safe. I also was dyno tuned but was very cautious about everything. This was on a boosted Y8 with a VAFC and RC 440s and a 255 lph fuel pump.

You might want to check with 'maddog20' on this site. He's got a 00 or 01 civic with the d16y8 engine. He just got a turbo kit seeing about 8-10psi along with 255 fuel pump, 440rc injectors and some other mods I cant remember. He just got back from Payne(spelling?) to have his Hondata tuned. He brought back some info on the tune so he may have some info on the timing that may help you.

I replaced my head gasket with a thicker one, which of course lowers my compression. I can tell the difference in power because of this. I am trying to find a good setup with these factors. I have read that when doing the VAFC hack, you advance your timing. How is this so? And.... how much boost can I run, comfortably, with my setup to obtain maximum power.

I know, I know. I need to go to a dyno.....I am trying!

Okay, you need to ditch the inline fuel pump first off. The vafc hack does not need one, you will run way to rich. im using the hack and for timing i am using a J&S ultra safeguard, wich backs timing under detonation and/or boost. Both options are independant, so you can run both at the same time. Pretty nice.

If I didnt have the money to buy something like the J&S...

What would be a safe setting for my timing?

I am goinng to pull the inline pump and get a walbro 255 lph. I plan on getting a FPR, so what pressure would be adequate for my setup?

Thanks for info.
