VAFC ....help please!
hey, i just installed my VAFC, and ive double checked all the connections, and it is all correct. the only problem is that the unit will NOT turn on. i do hear a slight hum when i turn the key to accessory, so it must be getting power. i bought it at g-force a couple months ago and am just getting around to installing it now, along with DSM 450s, a Profec B, and a walbro pump. so, do i just have a bad unit or what? all the connections are right, the screen is just blank. this is the last thing so i can get my car running. thanks for any help.

sounds bad to me, if anything it should of turned on w/ the power and negative hooked up....don't know what to tell you....double check all the lines again, and if you know anyone w/ a VAFC, unclip yours and try the unit on there ecu...could be a broken display.

thanks for the replies. im trying to contact g-force now, but i cant seem to find them, if anyone has ordered from them recently, let me know how to get ahold of them.
how would i try it at my battery? would i connect BOTH powers and BOTH grounds, since there are 2 of each going to the harness? thanks

i know it seems like a stupid question, but apexi makes a strong point about doing it that way. double check that

another stupid question. perhaps you didnt turn to ignition ON position?
you put the key in. turn it once, you'll get accessories but the v-afc wont turn on. turn it once more, all your dash lights will light up and a/c, etc will turn on. at this point the v-afc should turn on.
just trying to cover the basics

Connecting it straight to the battery? Wouldn't the high amps from the battery fry the circuits?

alright one more thing....i tried it again last nite in the dark, and the buttons DO light up, but the display doesnt. so im guessing that definitely means the display is bad and this is a bad unit right? please let me know if this sounds right to you...thanks

Hi-amps from the batt should NOT fry the unit... Back to basic electrical properties here.... AMPS are basically synomous with the amount of electrical flow it is capable of...
Think of your house... Some houses have 60 AMP service... others have 200 AMP service... meaning as a whole.. the house can suck up to the max number of AMPs... but does this make a difference to any of your appliances? Nope.
The number of AMPs something sux is controled by it's resistance to electrical flow. Granted if the unit is screwed and has little resistance it could fry. Car batteries can put out enough electrical flow to weld steel.
Just a thought...
