Tuning question?
As of right now, my car runs like crap because it's untuned. I'm going for a tuning session on August 10th but I have a question...
How much boost can I expect to be pushing on a stock D16Z6 block with a t3/t4 turbo, hondata 2bd, ARP headstuds (if needed, cause I have them sitting in my garage), and rc 440's?
I was expecting to run between 10-11 for the track and 6 for daily driving (I have a dual stage boost controller). Was I way off?
Right now I'm getting destroyed by GSR's, GSX's, and almost anything else that I race. I think it's because it's running extremly rich and I'm throwing a Code 22 (V-TEC Pressure) which I have no idea how to fix.

first of all i cant remember the guys name. i believe he drives a red civic and he is from flordia. well anyway he has a hondata 2b and is pushing 10psi daily on stock bottom end.
about your vtec pressure code is your vtec engaging? if i remember correctly that just means when the computer engages vtec it expects a higher oil pressure and when it is not there you get a cel. have you just tried resetting your ecu, or take the vtec solenoid off and check it.

Re: Tuning question? (CovertFI)
I have reset the ECU, but I haven't tried removing the actual solinoid. It's very hard to tell whether it's engaging or not because on a D series, vtec is not very powerful and I cannot hear it over the turbo. But I don't think I'm getting it because I am getting beat by nearly stock gsr's.

look on the side of you motor for the vtec oil pressure sensor. I know that the female end is green and the male end is grey. Check to see if it is not pluged in. The shop that installed my turbo managed to disconect it. All you need to do is plug it in. I hope that works for you.

Re: Tuning question? (MyWhiteCivic)
ouch...this is why i swapped engines first before boosting. I was beating turboed ex's with my dads auto 96 maxima early on....if that wasn't an incentive to swap first I don't know what is.

one more thing, how much boost are you running? I'm not trying to say anything, but i have the greddy kit(15g) at 5psi i was walking gsr's and my car is an automatic. I don't know but it seems you could be running way to rich and robbing tons of power.

Re: Tuning question? (MyWhiteCivic)
i got a turbo ex and can beat gsr's modded and most eclipses. there's definately something wrong with your tuning and whenver you get that thing tuned you're gonna be a hella lot quicker.
power in this motor is all about tuning and setup. because with the b series swap its slightly less important due to the fact they can generate more power easily than us. post your dyno results when you tune that sucker and I bet you will be happy as hell when you're done.

Yeah, I'd fix your code issues before worrying about tuning. Something doesn't sound right. Running a "low" 7psi I ran a 13.8 with my smaller valve, non-VTEC D-motor

Re: Tuning question? (autoEXturbo)
I'm running a T3/T4 turbo (.63 a/r and .57 trim). I know I know, way to big but as soon as I get time, I will be getting it retrimmed with a smaller a/r and trim. I should be running 6.5 lbs of boost but for some reason it won't go above 5.5 psi. It seems like its a lot slower with the Hondata compared to when I had the vortech. Tonight I will try to post my hondalogger files and I will defiatly post my dyno results after tuning.

Re: Tuning question? (DSF)
Yeah well it will be getting retrimed to .57 a/r and .53 trim soon. b18bturbo said I should hit full spool at like 3200 rpms. That will be great!!! 10 lbs of boost all hitting at 3200 rpms and then v-tec somewhere around 4500-5000. Oh god, my car better be in 14's or I'm going to be very pissed!
