My question is simple........

I keep on reading about how the hack advances timing too much, and this and that and detonation at part throttle.......

I´ve been running boost for 3 weeks, D16Z6@8 psi intercooler, 450 dsms, and the car runs great.......but everyday I keep on reading about the timing issue.....

Has ANY of you running the hack, and retarding static ignition, had any problems regarding ring lands crackings, or melting piston, or other nasty stuff?? I think I am becoming paranoid, but the car runs great, no pinging no detonation, just boost........

 

i too was scard. i ran a 4 degree retard and the car ran fine. i have a btm now and i feel much safer

 

im running the same set up and it hasnt gone yet. seems fine at part throttle and everything. timing is set at stock. i worry about the timing thing too.

 

you should be fine...im using the hack and dyno'd 280hp to the wheels last december and my timing was set to 12 degrees (6.5psi wg spring)...how it was retarded so much, i have no clue..i bought the car used and bone stock back in 2000. I have had absolutely zero problems with my fuel setup and have put 6000 miles on the car since boost, and have driven it pretty hard. I wouldnt worry. If your paranoid, just back the timing off even more.

 

My timing was retarded -3 at the dizzy. Ran alright but rich as ****, according to the dyno.

 

never adjusted my timing. when it was being dyno'd my tuner hooked into my ecu service port and checked and my timing was fine. btm set at .33degree/lb of boost. running 5.5 psi now, but about to up it to 10-11psi.
