Default vafc hack + fmu??

My friend's set up is stock b20 turbo with 440's, vafc hack, and 12:1 fmu..He made 280 whp and 280 torque on 10-11 psi...Has anyone else ever tried this set up?

you shouldn't need an FMU. shouldnt his car run tremendously rich.

Yeah, i know you don't need it..but it makes the 440's act like bigger injectors or something like that...he had a pretty clean a/f...

hey that seems to be a cheaper way of making EXTERMLY large injectors

its not a hack if you have an FMU. the afc then is just used to tune the fuel curves.

but you still use the vafc to trick the map, so it's still a hack..

well yes u can get away with the fmu and run very rich on the top end but look it at this way.....the more things that control ur fuel the more things can go wrong...i hate having a fuel pump and fmu and check valves....if he removed the fmu and tune his afc hack the way its suppose to be then he shouldnt need a fmu...440cc can handle the power he is making anyways....i say if he was making more power then the 440cc can support and a fmu will help then sure...but why use a fmu and then lean out the top end with the afc...makes it risky for a clogged fmu...mine clogged and my friends clogged too....its like getting hondata with 440cc and using a fmu

What if you ran this setup with a 8:1 or something smaller than the 12:1. It should do the same thing as the 12:1...but you wont run as rich. I dont know if this would work...just a thought.

just use only the afc when u get a boost dependent fuel pres. riser u get varible fuel intake...its job is just to cram as much fuel into the cylinders as possible...when tempeture changes and time for dyno tuning its going to be way off...

As with most any tuning, Doing the hack, or even hondata, it's tuned to the atmospheric conditions at the time of tuning, it's not going to change the tune with weather, thats why most tune conservativly.

Thats great but crazy, it's putting so much strain on the injectors, fuel lines, fuel pump, and probably sacrificing atomization with fuel pressures that high. If e wants to keep the fmu have him drop it down to a 4:1 and retune, that will still be plenty of fuel.
Hell i'm only runing 310cc injectors 4:1 fmu and a sfc to lean it out a little more.I have heard of people secussfully doing this simular set-up, but it puts to much strain on your fuel components

i meant that the fmu arnt acurate when it comes to adding the fuel and isnt controlled very acurate when it comes to a/f....i dyno'd my car several time sometimes it was 12.5 across other times it was 13.4 same say 10 min apart...isnt to acruate..same with friends too...using the afc tho its pretty damn consistent and think why would u want to lean out the top end because of the fmu...

Could be your fmu's or the sensor on the dyno, because both mine and my buddys cars have dyno'd with air/fuel ratio's close each time same day and a few weeks later......12.0 +/- .2 across.

Who is leaning out the top-end? I think i may have missed that part......If your talking about my set-up, i'm pulling fuel from when boost hits till redline (3-10%)

hey man no doubt it works but i have tried it too but why??? the 440cc have enough potential to keep our cars safe with that boost and power....
