upgrading hot side A/R question?
If I buy say a GT35R or SC61 or a turbo of that sort and I bought it with .63 A/R and I wanted to step up next season to a .82 A/R do I just need the exhaust housing or do I need a wheel too? Also how much would I be looking at for the upgrade parts (where to buy?)?
Thanks
Kyle

Well, he was just using that as an example...here's a better example. What about say...a T3 turbo and you wanna convert the 0.48 A/R turbine to a 0.63 A/R. Is this possible? And if so, what do I need? We'd sure like to know.

from my understanding, if you're using the same stage wheel, you can just upgrade the housing. keep in mind that you'll need the same outlet type (4 bolt vs 5 bolt).
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
I currently have a stage 3 .82 t3 4bolt that I'd like to replace with a .63.

Yes, that's exactly what you can do. The question still stands, why do you feel the need for a .82 when the .63 can support 600+ WHP and basically max out the compressor wheel?

Just going by other peoples setups, seems as if most of the 600 hp guys are running .82 A/R.... I would be much more happier with .63 though, Do you Feel a GT35R will efficiantly run 550-600 whp on a .63 A/R?

Absolutely. Did you look at those two dynos I posted? SC61's at 600+ WHP on 3 bar map sensors (so under 30 pounds of boost) with .63 A/R housings. In that thread about Mase's trip to norcal a GT35R car pulled 604 WHP with a .63 A/R housing. There was another car that Jdogg tuned as well that hit right around 605 WHP on an 84mm B16 with a .63 A/R hot side too.

if you get the other housing with the same size wheel as you have now, you can just swap the housings.

The .82 A/R is laggier and theoretically should provide a bit more top end power, but the .63 will make 600 wheel no problems, so I don't see the point.
