This my be a stupid question but has anyone ever use the Dust-off bottles for PC keyboards upside down to spray the intercooler at the track.

I also saw in japan racing video guys spray a R33 skyline's intercooler with a frre extingquisher.

Anyone with input on this topic???

Basically a method or system thats not permentnatly installed, just sorta a on demand at the track before a run thing.

 

i saw a show with ppl packing ice around thare intercooler in between runs......

over here some people spray NOS onto their intercoolers, carrying the blue bottle around like its a fire extinguisher

 

Yup, I've seen lots of people spray their intercooler off with a nitrous bottle, but I'm sure it's a lot more effective than a fire extinguisher. I'm sure a fire extinguisher could whisk away heat, but it is more effective at starving a fire from air, not lowering the temperature of the fire, so I'm sure quite a few things could be more effective than the extinguisher unless something else was in there other than the normal substance.

If a tech guy sees you spraying nos like that, they will kick you off most tracks. You can mount a sprayer nozzel and a co2 cartridge and use that. It will work as well......Mike

 

you could also do it ghetto style and buy easy whips (what they use to refill whip creme cans) and spray it on the intercooler. Basically they are n2o in little viles. $15 at a grocery store u can get 25 viles.

 

just get a pressurized garden sprayer and fill it with ice and water and spray the intercooler before you make a run.works great.

 

Steal some dry ice from the ice cream man?

 

i honestly dont see why you would spray nitrous on the intercooler. after the burn out it should be useless and plus the track temp is very hot???

Just use water
