Default twin loop muffler on turbo setup ?s

I didn't see anything in the archives about this. I have a brand new SNL 2.5" twinloop that I bought when I first got my sol and was planning on doing the whole swap and NA build up again, but decided to just boost the z6 using basically a greddy kit.

Here's some pics of the muffler:
http://www.hondamarketplace.co...44528

Several people I know with boosted SOHCs are running only 60mm piping(some use bigger)... would 2.5" piping and this muffler be okay still...I don't plan on breaking the 200whp mark(so it's not like I need some 3" exhaust or anything. I just want a very quiet car(my neighbors and cops are extremely **** about exhaust noise...and if the cops see a typical fart can your hood will get popped for sure) just trying to keep the peace and avoid potential problems.

I know this muffler may dampen HP a little bit but compared to all the straight through mufflers I've heard(including ES with a big resonator) this is by far quieter.

You should definetly go this route! You're not trying to break any HP records, so there is no concern at that power level, not to use a twin loop.
Hell, once i boost my car i also want to run a twin loop, even if it means going from 3" exhaust to a 2.5" muffler. It needs to be quiet, and you can put only so much HP on the street anyway, so no point of beeing worried that i wont make 600whp with this setup.

That's pretty much my idea/concept....sacrifice maybe 3-5whp and never have to deal with bitchy neighbors or cops because they heard my exhaust. I think this muffler in conjunction with a 22" resonator should make the exhaust silent. and as you can see on the pics of my old red hatch, it looks fairly stock.

a few horsepower?
theres alot more power being killed by goin to 2.5 then just a few horsepower

you wanna make power, but dont wanna get hastled by the cops, get a cutout... period

twin loop should be used on NA only...I would stay stock before spending on one of those.

I run a 3" dynomax super turbo chambered muffler and a resonator and personally I think my car is quieter than those vids. It sounds a lot better/deeper too. I went to this muffler from a straight through magnaflow. Probably lost a bit of power but I think it was worth it.

How does that ruin it?? my car made over 300whp with that muffler which was my goal. So I made my goal and my car was as quiet as I wanted it to be, sounds like a win win to me. If your going for all out power and its just a weekend car then yea run open dp. If you drive the car everyday I dont see the problem with using a chambered muffler.

If you look at the design it's pretty much 2 straight through mufflers....one welded one on top of the other with a pipe(that's mandrel bent BTW...not crush-bent like other twinloops) connecting the two....I really doubt it'll be as restricting as anyone says it'll be...certainly a hell of a lot better than stock, or a 60mm apexi world sport like some people I know.

besides I want a consistent amount of power all the time, rather than max power some of the time and restricted the rest as with an E cut out.

I definetly agree with you! Not everyone wants 450+WHP in a light fwd car on the street.
Let me know what you decide to do, since i want to have a quiet car as well rather than making the most power.

Did you get the car re-tuned after the switch? Or where you just running a bit leaner?

if you run open wastegate the restriction of the muffler becomes much less of an issue at full boost.

I have been back and forth on using a twin loop on my soon to be finished boosted sohc. I think that I will probably end up getting the 2.5" since I do want a quiet car. This will not be a DD for me, but quiet & OEM looking is my preference. I will be running a Y pipe on my setup, no open DP for me, so it's nice to see others running this w/o issue.

a d series is really loud for some reason with a 3 inch exhaust.

I dont think its just loud on the D series, its deep on my b series. But when compared to a straight through N1 its miniscule which is the reason I think its a good choice. Quite, stealthy, but still straight through!
