Default Turbos and automatic transmissions

How well do these 2 things work together. I have seen many civics, acords, etc. for sale that are turbod and have automatic transmission. Are they any good? Also what do you think the best automatic transmission turbod car would be? Under 10K and used car of course.

Thanks

All that extra torque you'll be producing once your car is turboed, it'll either slowly or rapidly tear apart that Automatic Transmision. Of course, depending on the tq you'd be hitting expect that AT to start slipping in time. But don't get me wrong, there are things to make it work properly, but... How fun is it to drive an Automatic car.. honestly?

im not geek regarding the auto tranny, but i would guess that your torque converter would rapidly wear out. just change the torque converter to something more performance oriented (if they make one for civics) or just let off the gas when the tranny is shifting?

Automatic cars are fun for me. Maybe because Im a new driver, but anyways, Im not looking for an auto turbod car to be hitting 1/4 in 13s or anything like that. I just like turbod cars regardless of speed. But not slowww. I read on WRX forums that some auto guys bought stall torque converter which allows them to brake/gas rev engine without killing transmission or torque converter. Is this true and if so is it available for auto civics or accounts? Or maybe del sol and preludes?

Thanks

yes Level10 makes torque convertors for F and H series. I dont know much about them for D and B series

i ran nitrous on my auto tranny w/ a tranny cooler and it finally blew up after about 2 yrs. i converted to 5spd and it much better but the conversion was a PITA

upgrading the torque converter has nothing to do with prolonging the life of a transmission. It's the clutch packs that eventually start to slip.
