Default Turbonetics Super 60 Question???

Im looking to get a different turbo for my built d16z6. I now have a 57 trim t3/t4 with .63 turbine .60 compressor.. I found a super 60 for sale for a good price and it has a .48 turbine.. The thing im not sure off is what does the 60 in super 60 stand for?? Is it compressor flow or the trim size.. Thanks for any info??

Trim size. And it's quite smaller than your current turbo.

So its a not a good choice in turbo??? I just might be trying to hard to have instant boost between shifts Right know with my t3/t4 I start making boost around 3700 and make 14psi by 4800-5000.. Is this typical for a built d16z6 with this turbo.. I would love to still make 400whp with less lag.. Will a 50/54 Trim .48ar .60 compressor t3/t4 make a huge difference in boost characteristics. Any insight is appreciated!!!

if you still want to make 400hp with less lag then go for a Garret GT dual ball bearing turbo.

the GT2871R comes to mind. kinda expensive but it's a great turbo.

Whats your whole set up? I will be running a T3 .60/.63 60 trim but am having second thoughts now because my motor will be built. I'm thinking it will be too small now. Might end up using my bro's Garrett T3/T04e 50 trim.

D16z6
Arias 9:0:1
PnP Head
JG Camshaft
STR Drag Intake Manifold
T3/T4 57 trim (.63ar turbine-.60ar compressor)
2.5" downpipe
3" Catback

Those are the basics or the setup there is much more--But I start making full boost around 3700 and reach 14psi around 4800-5000.. It comes on real hard but there seems to be alot of lag between shifts.. Maybe its just me thinking there is.. Im not sure the car made 420whp on a 54 trim t3/t4 with same compressor but a .48 turbine.. So i think I might be in the market for the 54 trim t3/t4.. Is there a huge difference between a .48 and .63???

did it start making boost at 3700 or full boost at 3700?...sometimes the motor is not rev up high enough to fall back into boost...

yes...the .48 a/r will allow you to spool up quicker than the 63 a/r...

48 a/r= quick spool up, aite mid-range, little top end (street)
63 a/r= alittle laggy,great mid-range,good top-end (street&strip)
82 a/r=laggy as hell,little mid-range,hella top-end (track)

something to go by...hope this help

Yeah sorry about that I start making boost around 3700 and reach full boost around 4800-4900.. So you think i should stay with the .63ar and maybe get a smaller trim???

Its mostly track so Ill stick with the .63ar but also what will a smaller trim accomplish.. Will it effect spool time at all.. The original turbo was a 54-Is there a big difference between the 50-54-57???

57 trim will give you alittle bit more top end power from the 54 trim...
