Default Turbo'ed Daily Driver?

Hi,

I'm going to be getting a '99 Civic Si and would like to drop a turbo into it eventually. First of all, how much should I expect to spend to get it running reliably? Secondly, what will I have to do to get it to run reliably? Finally, what times could I expect to pull in the 1/4 mile?

Thanks so much!

building your bottom end with forged pistons, rods, bearings and sleeves is the best reliable engine. but the most important thing is engine management. a good tune is what really keeps it reliable. depends on what other things you want to put on the engine with turbo and how much boost your gonna run . you will need a clutch and fw definetly. an upgraded fuel system and a radiator would be cool. it all depends on what kind of power your putting out. so what exactly do you want to do? then your question will be answered easier.

-Run a GOOD ems...Hondata, chrome, Neptune, AEM etc.
-have it tuned by a GOOD tuner
-have a MORE than adequate fuel system with high quality components...IE
walbro 255 in tank, RC eng injectors (dont skimp on injectors I learned the hardway), Aeromotive FPR, fuel rail(optional)

the idea is that with AWESOME tuning, and a solid fuel system your engine will run like butter. The turbo, wastegate, bov, intercooler, ic piping etc all really has nothing to do with how reliable your setup is. Obviously you dont want to buy crap parts for those, but they arent near as important to the car's "reliablty" factor.

Another thing I learned...OVER clutch your car. Exedy clutches are nice. Get one that will handle 50% more than what you expect to put to it. so if you expect 300whp dont get a clutch that is max rated for 300whp....get one thats rated for 400. (note ratings should be in torque, but people are idiots and they rate them in hp for no ******* apparent reason)

so how do you know how much torque your going to make? if i want up to 400 Whp that should be about like 275-300 torque max on a gt2871 b16...? so which clutch would you get? act xtreme pressure plate is rated for 309 at the flywheel.. u think thats enough?

If its rated at 309hp at the flywheel and you want 400whp how is that enough, then again there is a slight possibility that it will hold due to our cars low torque number but high hp numbers due to high revving.
