Turbocharging a D16Y8....help?
Im looking to boost my 98 EX and have a few questions.... First, fuel management? What are some good options? I am not looking to have a SOHC Boosting 20 PSI and running 10's, I just want a pretty mild setup maybe around the 210-230 HP range (on stock internals). I hardly ever race it.... I just want to have a peppy daily driver than I can enjoy and have fun driving. Are there any systems out there that I can use and not worry about getting it to pass come emissions time? Second, I only want to push 7-9 PSI and I would prefer to use an external wastegate. Would this be a good idea? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated....Thanks!

You can go with hondata, crome, or my favorite and frankly the best eCtune (www.ectune.com).. Get some 440cc injectors. 7-9 psi is fine on a stock motor, either way internal or external wastegate will work.. t3/t04e is a good standard turbo, should do what your lookin for.. As long as you have a catalitic converter and have a good tune you should pass emissions on just about any turbo setup..

Well, remember in some states (NY where I'm from) requires your vehicle be plugged into their computers if your car runs on a OBD2 system. So if you run an OBD1 ecu, you're not going to pass that test even with a working catalytic converter. I'm sure Cali is the same if not worse.

Cali is hella worst. but thats why I have my PA plate still haha. There are alot you can do with a sohc turbo build. For fm there are alot like neptune, crome, haltech, hondata, etc. Do you want a true stand-alone. I am curently selling a p28 w/ neptune. I also have a super badass turbo manifold from full-race (this manifold is the best in the industry) for sale. Pm me if you are interested.

Sounds like a perfect candidate for the Edelbrock turbo kit.
F'NfastSOHC I still want you manifold, but tuition owns me right now.

In Salt Lake where Im from, we have the same prob here. I dont want to convert to OBD1. I gotta stay OBD2. I really dont want to get crazy in what I am spending cash wise. I looked into the edelbrock kit, but damn that kit is expensive! Does anybody know anything about the Apexi VAFC Neo? I know they make a plug in harness adapter so I dont have to splice into the factory harness, which makes it pretty nice if I have no choice but to change everything back to stock once a year.

You can run 12's on side-draft carbs if you really want to... I'd definately go OBD1, there's much better ems's for it than any other ecu generation.

Depends on power goa; & street or track use. Bigger turbo = more lag, power, harshness. But that could be a good thing too.
