Turbocharged 2001 Prelude: how to pass inspection MA (scanner)
Have a question. My friend is looking to pick up a 2001 turbocharged prelude sh. The car is converted to obd1. I mean once he picks up the car hes gonna have to pass the safety and emmissions part of the inspection. On obd2 cars they're gonna use the scanner to check for cel and b/c this car is converted to obd1 and tuned with hondata s200....how are they gonna go about doing this? Are they gonna do it through the tailpipe? im pretty sure theres alot of boosted obd2 cars on here so any help is greatly appreciated
just dont want my friend to pick up a car that wont pass inspection and cause headaches.

well obd2 cars are tested through the scanner thing. i know obd1 cars are tested through the tailpipe and if it wouldnt pass, if u knew the right people it would pass but i dont think u can do that with obd2 cars. So would this car be tested through the tailpipe or the scanner?

scanner. you can't do a tailpipe test anymore on obd2.

You'd probably have to do it with a piggyback like emanage. It would intercept the signals to the injectors/map/ecu to give you more fuel when needed, while keeping the ecu in the dark. I can't recall if it can do timing as well, but there's one surefire way to pass if you're not in Cali: cheat.
Either pay someone to pass w/o connecting, or get a stock ecu/injectors/o2 sensor and tool around for 2-300 miles stock, being careful not to hit boost. Ideally you'd take the spring out of the WG and unclamp a charge pipe coupler - boost is almost inpossible in that case. Then get it checked, since the stock ecu thinks everythign's fine, and put all your gear back on. Or move to an easier state...

Re: (HiProfile)
Off topic, but holy crap, that 16-timer thing you have in your sig is the most ghetto-fabulous tuning instrument I've ever seen. 16 bins on one chip? Figure out how to interface that with eCtune/neptune/hondata and a dial switch, and you will make some money!
