Default turbo vtec disabling vtec

i have a built turbo gsr but im out of money so i cant aford some needed fuel system upgrades. right now im running 450cc injectors with stock pump and at 6 psi in vtec i just cant get it to stop leaning out. but with vtec disabled i was able to get a good afr all the way to redline

but i was told by this guy that running with out vtec over 5k would [freak] up my motor. is there any truth to this??

flaming is welcome

take it all off or dont boost until you have the money to do things correctly. youll thank yourself later.

It won't hurt the motor, but I wouldn't be out beating on it until you upgrade that pump and get everything running properly.

Driving without VTEC won't damage your engine at all, where do they come up with this ****? I'm breaking in a new engine, conservative tune, 6 psi and VTEC is disabled. Getting car booked on dyno in few weeks for for tune and VTEC tune too. Its a matter of preference vs performance. Some boosted Honda's drive all long with no VTEC anymore cause they can make all the power they need. The other question is how will the VTEC work in your favour on dyno and wether you'll get any power dips when VTEC engages/disengage !!!

"Do not set the VTEC point too high as the high speed cam rocker arm may float on the lost motion assembly, damaging the valve spring retainers. It is not recommended to set the VTEC point over 6500 rpm"

Taken fom the s300's help files.
I don't see how that would damage the retainers though. The retainers don't have anything to do with the 3rd rocker arm flopping around. But I do see a definite potential for that to damage the lost motion assembly, possibly the arm itself, and the vtec lobe. The 3rd rocker arm bouncing between the vtec lobe and lma doesn't seem very ideal to me.
I'm trying to remember if there is a different rev limit for the low cam. (Like free revving the motor, when vtec doesn't engage) ..I can't remember, f it.
