Turbo stops pulling in 3rd and 4th gear....
For some reason my turbo stops pulling at the top of 3rd and all of 4th gear....it boosts real hard in first and second gear but falls on its face up top...its still holding boost so i can figure out why its not pulling hard...I have a 93 civic with a LS swap and a drag turbo kit i just upgraded the manifold to an equal length manifold and a 3" DP im runing a t3/t4B turbo with super S wheel...i dynod 291whp283torque @18psi so it was holding boost on dyno and making power but when i get on the street it feels very weak up top....could a leak between the manifold and turbo itself cause this im not using a gasket there...someone help
I dont think its the gasket that goes between the mani and turbo. I wasnt using one either when i had my t3/t4b. It worked fine without it.
could be a tuning issue. what do you think john?? might be way rich. you have any dyno sheets with air fuel?? what mgmt are you running??
i would have thought that had I not seen the "tuned" e/t. One would assume he's tuned, his mph vs boost pressure seems about right....

Check for leaks in your system. I had a leak in the coupler that connect the intercooler piping from the turbo outlet to the piping. It was fast for awhile, then lost alot of power. I was still boosting the same. It was a very good representation of how boost pressure and flow (cfm-from the turbo) arent dependant upon another.
I would have to agree that it could be the tranny. Does it pull at all in 3rd and 4th?
Maybe its the fact that the car weighs in at around 2200lbs wet w/driver...
My car did the same thing at the track and on the street.
I dunno what caused it, but I'm 'rebuilding' 50% of my turbo setup to attempt to fix it by throwing parts at it. My turbo was blowing TONS of oil smoke on the dyno, so I figure something got cooked.
Weird thing with mine, it was like a switch. On the way to park my car when I got fed up with it, I BUSTED an S2000's ***. But two days before, a stock red GSR hung with me on the interstate, and the car felt lazy as hell. Boost gauge always pegged right at 1 bar.
Somebody solve this mystery!
I was running a customized F-Max kit with a Z-Dyne GOLD SECU and 550cc injectors. Tuning was not an issue, because my car would run like a scalded dog SOMETIMES, and run like a salted slug others.

I have to dissagree. my brothers LS swapped 89 4 dr pulls like a **** in 3rd, 4th gear. Maybe its the tuning

Nooo. it has nothing to do with gears.
My car SPUN all the way through second, shifted to third, and it chirped tire, pulled hard for 500-1000 rpm, and then FELL FLAT ON IT'S FACE.
It was almost as if I blew off some piping or something, but I let the car idle down, and turned it off after cooldown.
5 minutes later, I put it back on the track and it ran ALMOST normally again, able to accelerate through all the gears, with NO changes to the car besides the heat cycle.
