Default Turbo selection questions

Hey everyone- I'm looking to boost my LS motor. It's in a Del sol. I'd like to put down 10lbs on the stock block, and squeeze as much power, while remaining safe. I will have a very well known tuner take care of that.

What turbo does everyone recomend for me? I'm so clueless when it comes to all the different numbers and yadda yadda.

a simple t3/t4 57 trim with a stage 3 wheel and a .63a/r should be perfect for you.

If you dont have a setup at all yet, i would suggest something like what i have. An SLS Shorty and STC GT3255b. Its a great combination for a stock block street/strip setup. If you want more info about it and pricing, PM me, TTT or The Shodan.

x2 and 14 psi to get it happy... Tuning is the key, you should be more concerned about a power goal instead of boost, Toss some arp studs in it, get it tuned by someone who knows whats up, and theres no reason you cant run 14-18 psi on it make 280-300 and be safe... We did my boys teggy and it ripped for 40k miles BEATEN every day.....

The turbo listed above can vbe had at a cheap price as well if you look...

I agree with part of what you said, but i highly doubt its going to take 14-18psi to hit 300whp w/ a 57 trim...he's looking more in the range of 12-13psi.

I can't figure out how to PM people on h-t, is it the IM function?

Like I said, I want to keep it at a safe level of boost to not worry about throwing a rod. This is going to be the stock guts- on a relatively new (45k) motor.

t3/t4 .57 trim? Is that what's most popular?

What's the difference between that and a GT3255b?

edit: I'm picking up a blox cast mani for $75 on friday. So that should be a good start.

You dont have to worry about throwing a rod...the ringlands are the weakpoint.

There are subtle differnces in the two turbos. The GT3255b is basically a 57trim with a different compressor wheel and cover. It is designed to spool a little faster (it has a slightly smaller compressor wheel), but will still make power through redline. PM The Shodan if you want exact details about it. Also, if you want, let me know and i'll post my dyno graph with it on my stock GSR...numbers in sig

Then I suppose that's exactly what I'm looking for.

The GT3255b is spooling a little sooner than a standard t3/t4 57 trim?

Again, how do I PM people? I can't figure it out on this forum.

t3/t4 57 trim with a stage 3 wheel and a .63a/r this is a great turbo for your setup, my buddie is running the same turbo on his ls in a 95 coupe, and on 15psi he's putting down 320whp all stock internals intake mani, tb and a log manifold, he doesn't care if it blows so i'd run 10psi like you wanted to.
