a manifold that forces you to not be able to use a proper air filter is not worth using.

I will never get why people don't run ******* air filters.....do you all like sand and pebbles in your compressor or is it the screen blocking off 50% of the inlet area that does it?

If you'd read the thread and look at pics when people post stuff like this up, you would realize that some setups don't have the space for a filter

personally after running filterless for a while, i'm inthe process of seting up and intake and modifying hella to make one fit

Doesn't Greddy or HKS make a full body metal filter that is super short? Why not use that?

I dont trust screens anymore...

the foam style i believe you are talking about. i've seen a car suck the foam in from an hks filter, plus those are really wide and would be even harder to fit in my situation. my fan actually blocks part of the intake

If you do decide to use screen, you want to go buy a tea strainer or a collander that is made out of stiff stainless steel. Porch screen will make a big mess, don't do it.

I am currently using the HKS Metal Flow filter that I picked up from a SP garage sale a few months back. It's got a 3" opening, and it's very thin. Only downside is that it's very wide. Fit like a glove for my application though, compressor housing facing the driver side in an integra engine bay, no a/c no p/s. I'll post some pictures up soon.

if you put a strong screen behind the k&n cloth and made it bubble out a fewinches from the comp housing, you would see minimal power loss

Yea, I was hoping they would have a filter that was angled for my setup, but I need at least a 3.5 inch flange opening, and they don't have the filters with that big an opening that are angled...

you will lose horsepower if you use a screen instead of a air filter and turbo pipe. this has been proven many times right here on honda-tech.

I thought that kn filter wrap stuff was just meant to go around an ACTUAL filter... not function as a filter itself??

if i was stuck in a predicament like this, i'd just use be clever about it.. make a freakin filter to fit if u cant find one.

how hard is it to take a flat filter, cut it to shape, then find some way to fasten it onto ur turbo?

the fastening portion might take some time and thinkin and tinkerin.. but i doubt it's that hard
