Default Turbo rebuild?

Well, just so you guys know, the turbo I bought off ebay turned out to be garbage and its leaking oil into the compressor housing and the exhaust. Now I'm faced with two options, either rebuilding the turbo or buying a next one. I was quoted $500 to get it rebuilt and I know rebuilt turbos go for around $600. What I want to know is, is a rebuild that difficult? To my knowledge all it is is just bearings, gaskets and a few other parts like washers etc. Are the kits selling on ebay for eighty bucks legit and has anyone used those kits before?

Thanks,
Andrew

The turbo was a T3 60 trim with .60 A/R compressor and .48 A/R exhaust

Did you actually use that turbo yet because I bought mine off the same guy and I am just experiencing problems. How long have you been running this turbo and at what psi?

Dude have you tried http://www.cheapturbo.com for a rebuild price? $500 seems wayyyy to high. They quoted me at $250including all shipping charges for my T3. This is, of course, just for the seals, etc. Not damaged housing or fins. But still, 500 is too much.
