Turbo Questions
I want to go turbo here in the next year, and I was wondering if I should just boost the stock block, or be safe and build it first. If I build it, would pistons, rods, sleeves and cams be enough, or would I have to do more? Also, my goals are around 300-350hp. what kind of turbo would you guys recommend? Precision, Turbonetics, Garrett, Greddy? And what kind of intercooler? I don't want a kit, so please don't recommend it. This is all for a 99 ls, and help would be great. Thanks.
for the block if money is not an issue get sleeves, rods, low comp pistons, i think some guys have been in the 11s with a stock ls block, youll have to search

Set a horsepower goal that will get you into the 11's and build from there.

If you want to make big power do a search on sc61 and you will get a ton of threads and opinions. I guess the spool later in teh rpm band but hang on when they do
350 WHP is cake on a stock sleeves with good tuning, that should net you high 11's on slicks with the right weight and with a good driver
T3/T4e would be more than enough or get a SC61 like what everyone else is doing

What do you think it would take to hit 11s on street tires. And you are saying that I don't need to resleeve it? And doesn't the SC61 take a long time to spool up? I don't want to wait forever.
well too much power at low rpms is going to make your tires cut loose alot easier, so i dont think alot of mid and high range power will be that big of a deal...you'll only have to deal with lag till about 4k or so and if i remember correctly the sc61 is usually up to full boost by 5.5k rpms
Ok, thanks. So is the SC61 really worth the money, or should I just go with a T3/T4? And is the AEM EMS really worth the money, or should I just go with Hondata?
You know my advice, start small learn and then go bigger. 11 second integras dont happen overnight
. It takes alot of $, time, patience, experience....
My suggestion is go with a revhard kit, or a good custom kit, the sc61 is a badass turbo, but it's not for everyone. I would look into something smaller.
