Default turbo project

Ok, I am looking at turboing my R over the winter. I want to run low boost because it is my daily driver. My question is should i buy a kit or piece one together and also will the motor hold up to 7PSI with a good tune.

I'm sure this has been covered but i suck at searching, if there is a good link on this topic(i'm sure there is) please post it so i can do my research.

TIA

What kind of horsepower are you looking for?

I'm running a TD04 14G@7psi on my stock D16Z6.

friend has a drag kit on his r, it has been there for 3 years now. no issues. if you are goin to stay low boost, you want a turbo that works low. go with the tried and true t3-t4

depends on your knowlege, patience, and wallet.
if you have time, knowlege and patience, piece together a kit.
if you just want to spend, and be done, get a kit.

you keeping ac? if so you have to look at something like a log, or an ac compatible tubular. if not that opens up more options.

amount of boost pressure doesn't kill engines....bad tuning and high horsepower on stock internals kill engines.

All of these makers have A/C compatible manifolds and downpipes. In some cases you're going to have to get a slim fan for the condenser, and sometimes even put it in front of it, instead of where it sits now.

thanks alot,

For the turbo I was looking into a turbonetics T3/T04E w/ .63 A/R which i can pick up from my work at a decent price. Also what do you guys think of the vibrant intercoolers, these i can also pick up from work at a good price but i have not heard any feedback on them at all.

So with a good tune, i'll be looking into hondata or AEM, and low boost my motor will hold up fine?

Also since i am most likely not touching the bottom end, what head gasket would you recommend to run

Sure man: I was in somewhat the same predicament not too long ago : in short -

94 accord SOHC vtec f22b1
t/3/4 50 / 57
tial 38mm Wastegate at 8psi

AC compatible stainless log mani w external wastegate mount ($310 with head and turbo gaskets, bolts, etc.)
Custom mandrel 2.5" downpipe/flexpipe ($125)
(LSDMOTORSPORTS.com) - he or spoolin are the ones man!!!
FMIC and 2.5" custom charge pipe by me
Tial BOV
450 DSM injectors
OBX Fuel rail
AEM Fuelregulator
p-28 running NEPTUNE (Soon to be RTP upgraded-when available) ITS THE ****
WaLLBRO 255 PUMP

Cant wait to finish it and dyno its ***.

Fact- The most important thing (other than a WELL re-SEARCH-ed kit) is a GOOD TUNE!!!! Better safe than sorry...

Opinion- you will have so so so much fun, i know im gonna!!!

That should be fine for what you're doing.

I was going to go with the Hondata s-300 till I started talking to some people who are running Neptune- as I have a tuner really close to me who tunes Nep style (in addition to I have a wideband myself and their RTP is coming out in the near future), I have decided to bump that Neptune ****!!!
