turbo my LS?
Well, as the topic says.... yes... im seriously thinking about turboing my LS. I know the b18b is an excellent motor to turbocharge, but i just have a few questions. The car is a 1994 integra LS... 78xxx on the odometer. Ive had the car for 2 years and the car has been very well maintained by myself and the previous owner. It runs with no problems. My questions are....
-Is it too late (78xxx miles) to turbo the car?
-I plan on boosting at 6-7 lb .. not too much for daily driving.. how much of a difference will i feel?
-Finally, i plan on buying a new clutch and s-afc with it, but is there any other accessories you would reccommend?
thanks guys!!!
-hopefully boosted soon!

Re: turbo my LS?
Get a friend to help you do a compression test, unless you know how to. Your numbers should all be pretty close to one another (like 180 182 181 178). Once you establish that you have good compression, just for kicks you can do a leakdown test, but it's not totally necessary. Really, you don't have "high" miles for turbo. There are some guys in here doing it with 140k on the motor.
Given the above turned out okay, you'll be fine at 6-7 pounds. You should feel about an 80-100 hp increase, depending on some things...
I'd recommend getting the clutch (such as clutchmasters stage III, clutchnet stage II, act, rps, etc), also a thermal 3" exhaust. Try to get a custom downpipe fabricated into a 3" test pipe to replace the cat, and you'll notice a pretty big difference there in how fast the turbo spools and maxium power. A boost controller is nice to turn it up once in a while (there are plenty guys such as myself that run 9 psi on a stock LS motor, no worries)...
Right now Chris (DIRep) is our main turbo LS guy who runs a basic Revhard kit with stock engine at 8-9 pounds and has accomplished a 13.3 at 104 and is making 230 whp/200 ftlbs torque.
You might want to check out Hondata. A lot of guys are doing that for a standalone fuel management setup (althought I don't think it's considered standalone). The worst part of your setup if you go with a Drag or Revhard kit would be the fuel solution. A 12:1 FMU and inline pump with stock injectors is not the greatest thing for a long time. Search "hondata" and you can read about what it is and everything.
Expect to have a lot of fun, and expect your bank account to be significanly less than it's ever been.

Re: turbo my LS? (94acurals)
78000 miles is still a low mileage motor. You will feel a humongous difference in power with 6 psi of boost. Also, the clutch and SAFC are good investments. Sounds like you did some homework.

yep the night I ran 13.3 it wieghed in at 2680 w/ me in it.. Last night w/ a full tank, all the tools even miscelanious junk it wieghed in at 2750, I usually run about 13.5-13.6 on full wieght, 8psi.. do a compression test on your motor before u install it, if thats ok, i would go ahead and boost it..
Thanks, I'm really curious.

THe LS is a good base to work with as far as turbo. Just because its non-vtec doesnt mean its not gonna produce power. Remember, the first 11 & 10 sec turbo Hondas were using LS motors

Re: turbo my LS? (00-ITR-373)
Did the 13.3 run have tons of wheel spin? Just curious. I'm thinking about LS turbo swap into a '99 Hatch. BUT, I know the R's that have 220 whp are hitting 12's. Now, I'm thinking that's because they are on slicks for one, but that they are able to hook up, because they are no where near these torque numbers you guys are tossing around.
Thanks, I'm really curious.

I was able to pull out a couple 12 sec. runs on my LS w/ slicks. In fact I had to race Stoopid's hatch at the last event! That was fun....
No vtec is fun. Less worries. I just wish I had more money for standalone.
6-7psi is fun for a little while, I have a feeling you will come down with the fever.
I did...
