turbo ITR guys help?
I am turboing my R here is my set up:
greddy GSR kit with FMIC(custom to fit)
2.5"DP
Profec-B
apexi autotimer
VAFC
greddy EGT and boost gauges
255lph fuel pump
RC 440cc injectors
inline pro head gasket
my big question is how much boost would you say is safe. I would like to run 9 or 10 since the compression is lower. Should I have enough fuel? should I get a 4:1 FMU or something? also I was thinking about a inline pro block gaurd? this is all on stock ITR internals. let me know what you think. My ultimate goal is 280whp or so tuned but be honest. I would be happy with 250whp or so since I have a pretty fast spooling turbo.
thanks,
Sam

well with the right tuning and that inline head gasket they have seen itrs go daily driven on 12psi +.. so it can be done . as far as your kit though your gonnahave to refab the charge pipe becuase its for a gsr and it wont fit . it will hit the hood.
and the turbo is gonna be pretty small , more than likely it will lose efficiency at the high rpms you will be taking it .
I say save the moeny ang get liek a revhard kit or custom and get better stuff. or stuff that will suit your needs more .
Fmu will prob cause more issues . but can be done , but its a bitch .
if your gonna do a block gaurd, and have it apart you might as well just do the hwole block at one time . . . . . theres alot of little things you need to look at

Re: turbo ITR guys help? (itr206)
well I have the kit already. from the people I've talked to the turbo outlet needs a slight port job which I plan on doing before the kit is on the car. I know the charge pipe and DP won't fit so I am making a new DP and charge pipe. as for the turbo falling off it shouldn't fall off much. gsr's go to 8000 so the extra 400rpms shouldn't hurt it too bad. from what I have read I should make boost super early so I will have a decent low end turbo car. the head has to come off for the head gasket anyway so the block won't need torn all the way down. that is why I was thinking just drop the block gaurd in while the head is off.
my main concern is that I will be short on fuel. how much presure will a 255lph pump make at the rail with the stock regulator? I am goin to need like 60 at least 80psi would be optimal.

I think that with proper dyno/air-fuel tuning you'll be fine at 9-10 psi of boost. I've been running 7psi daily for a while now untuned and I beat the **** out of my R every time I get behind the wheel. I'm running a t3/60-1 turbo at 7psi and put down 282whp no problem's as of yet. Completely stock internals, stock injectors with a 12:1 FMU and an Accel inline fuel pump. I know people think it's a recipe for disaster but it runs like a top.

PLEEEAZZZEE post some video/sounds of your turbo setups. I have a ITR and am still in the stages of saving for my kit. I would like to see a video of one racing or something like that, inside the car or something.
If any of you have some video/sound of your R please post it Thankx!

Re: turbo ITR guys help? (Ruckus138)
well guys after my last post I pulled the vaccum line off the stock FPR and it went to almost 60psi at the rail. I think it was like 55-58psi...is it safe to run a FPR without the vac. line on? thanks

dude...not trying to be a dick or anything...but do a search...look for my name...At one point, I did a post on the do's and don't of turboing an ITR....I had a bad experience with it and paying the price of a rebuild now...FPR ad FMU are all crap, and don't expect to boost over 10psi on stock internals on pump gas! Get a prpoer standalone and do it right now, or suffer later!

not to be a dick but did you read my original post? I have stock internals but my compression is lower than a B18B. along with RC 440's and 255lph pump. please don't tell me I am doin it wrong cause I am definatly not. call inline pro and ask them how much boost they run on stock internals on their cars. I will be boosting no more than 12 psi on pump gas. it should work I am just worried that my duty cycle will be too high

Re: turbo ITR guys help? (ITR41)
you should go to the dyno and tune it with a wideband.then you will know how much you can run.it is not worth guessing.otherwise, you might get 10 different and choose the one you like the most(higher one) and blow it up.

Re: turbo ITR guys help? (ITR41)
I will show what boosting over 10psi (on 100 octane) did to my stock piston rings when i go back to the shop. Save yourself the grief...spend a lot now for a good fuel system, or spend a whole **** load later on a good fuel system and whatever it costs to rebuild...if you want to go 12psi...do it with a stand alone ..otherwise stay below 10...that was sung to me for a year and half by people who have a lot more exerience than me...and I should have listened

Re: turbo ITR guys help? (MiraiZ)
but what was your compression. 10psi at stock compression and 10psi at 9.x:1 is a totally different set of cylinder presures
