Turbo ITR

Stock ITR pistons are suprisingly very weak. I wish I had pictures of mine when the came out in like 5 pieces when my engine was rebuilt....they literally shattered to bits. And high compression doesn't add to the joy either. Higher compression really decreases your margin of error whenit comes to tuning. I have 9:1, and even then, my tuner grimaced and told me that it will be a challenge to tune it. She spent a lot of time on the dyno getting it right.
So my advice is, unless you feel really lucky, get forged pistons. High/ low compression is your choice, but not on stock...they will not last long ...trust me!!</TD></TR></TABLE>
for a female tuner!

I have seen forged pistons come apart under the same conditions. on top of that DSM's use cast pistons factory and their motors are good for 400+whp on bone stock internals.
point is the lower compression the higher the threshold for detonation so you can get away with much much more.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Stop spewing bullshit. DSM's have forged pistons stock and have handelec 600whp with experts tuning the 6 bolt motors. DSM's are also build for turobocharged duty with thicker ring lands placed lower on the pistons. The pistons also have oil squirters that cool the bottom of the pistons for that extra special coolness to keep things together with 24psi at 160+ mph. Ask me how I know
