Default Turbo Gurus please read..

Hey fellas - long time member here.

I no longer have a Honda - but I come here all the time because there's so much information here.

So, I have a Turbonetics turbo p/n: 11025-BB which is a T04E 50 trim with a T3 .48 A/R Stage 2 exhaust wheel. This turbo has a cermaic ball-bearing, the kind without a wet center housing.

This particular turbo has been known to blow seals left and right.. Turbonetics doesn't recommend using any sort of restrictor on it.

So I'm thinking, why the hell not?! Would you guys recommend using a .065" restrictor - I think going to a .035" would be too small. My car's oil pressure can be around 45-50psi cruising on the highway. At WOT and redline it gets up to 85psi or so.

Do not use the restrictor at all. The ceramic bearing system still needs that layer of oil to help center the turbine shaft and lubricate the system. Unless of course you want to send it back to turbonetics again.

Bad idea.

Thanks, Shodan.

I'll take your advise.. but just for my knowledge - why is it that sometimes restrictors (larger than GT restrictors) are recommended on journal bearing turbos?
