Turbo gsr
I have a 95 integra gsr with 111k miles on it. My plans are to turbo it. I am kind of on a budget and this is going to be my daily driver. Should I sell my motor (b18c1) and buy a b18c with lsd (38k miles) on the motor. Then turbo it using all stock internals. Or should I just try to build the motor I have right now. By switching motors, it will only put me back about $500, but I will have an lsd tranny and alot less miles. Need some advice, please help.
And as far as my goals are, I would love to run in the twelves on the quarter mile. Not sure if it is realistic but planning on putting a traction bar on it and some good suspension. 8Lb flywheel and a good after market clutch. When I go to turbo it, I am going to add a jg edelbrock IM and a oversized throttle body to help it breathe better. As far as horsepower goes, I am thinking somewhere in the range of 300hp. Would that put me in the twelves. Also any suggestions on a turbo, thinking about going to a junkyard but not so sure on how reliable it will be. Thanks.
I have a stock Jdm B18c, power level is in the sig \/. I opted from the lsd tranny and I am glad I did. I only really break loose in 1st and the beginning of 2nd. My buddy has a USDM gsr on 10psi (no dyno time) and a no lsd tranny. His car feels quick, when it hooks up. Lets just say I for a short ride and he didn't really hook up in any gear.
For the motor idea I would just rebuild what you have. That way you have a built motor to start with. Just use solid, reliable parts and have it assembled by a reputable builder.
Save the money from the Jdm B18c (approx $3500) and build the block and while its out put a lsd in the tranny. I hear the quaif is stronger than the stock honda lsd anyway.
As for your power goal, it is attainable. I would get a new, soild turbo instead of a junkyard turbo. The last thing you want to do is finally get your car running then have something go wrong with it. Do it right the first time. If you are only shooting for 300whp I would go for a blox or skunk2 intake manifold. I will be picking up one pretty soon and will compliment the motor better at lower power levels.
If you have anyother questions send me a pm or something, I just installed my turbo in Jan so I can prob help you out. Good luck

Thanks for the info, I already have the jg edelbrock IM and oversized throttle body. I found that on westcoast-turbo, they have a t3/t04b turbo, what stage (1,2,3) do you think would be best for my setup and goals. I am not so sure If I want to go that route of building the block, It is too much of a hassle and I really don't wan't to pay some one to do it. As far as the b18c, I can get the complete swap under 3 grand. I might know someone who is willing to buy my b18c1 for about $2200. So I really am not loosing that much, considering he is going to pay me to install it.
I know what you are saying about sellin your moter and all but how many people would pay that much for a motor with 111,000 miles on it ,. I think that tou should get some pauter rods ,forged pistons, do the head up with some titanium valves ,springs and retainers and get a resurface . Thats what iwould do because going boost you might want to do that anyway and you will save money if you buy another motor with less miles on it and still build it for boost. Once you do those things you engine should be solid now all you hve to worry about is the maintnence like timing belt water pump fuel things like that .
eagle rods ~$330
wiseco pistons ~$430
valves ~$375
springs ~$250
retainers ~$150
oem timing beld $60
oem water pump i forget
just do a search

as long as your motor is solid (with good compression across the cylinders) and no oil leaks or consumptions issues you should be fine . It is a honda. Check the motor and turbo it . Save the money for a pistons and rods while boosting 8-10 should be fine. Stock is stock no matter if it is USDM or JDM if you boost too much it will blow. Save while you learn about boost and then build with rods and pistons and you should be good.
