Default Turbo Fitment Issues

Alright, here’s the deal: I got a 99 Civic Si (B16A2) and a T3/T04E turbo. Now as common as this set up is one would think it would go strait forward right? Well not in my case. Here’s the story.

I decided to go with a custom turbo set up so I get a Garrett ball bearing T3 / T404E

SPECS:

.57 COMPRESSOR WHEEL TRIM

.50 A/R COMPRESSOR

.63 A/R TURBINE

I have bought and tried to install three different Turbo mani folds.

First one I bought was a cheap 1.) SSchrome tubular manifold I bought of ebay as a impulse buy. (yea that was a waste of money) however it did fit on the block and the turbo mounted on the manifold no room for a intake filter or a three inch down pipe with keeping my AC in.

Next, I decided to buy a used cast Iron many fold of ebay it looks similar to a
2.) Turbonetics mani with the 38mm wastgate placed in the center of the manifold. After drilling and reaming I finally got it on the head of my B16. I then bolted in place and tried to put the turbo on. No way was that going to happen so I did a little research and found out where to cut the webbing on my block. Went ahead and did it. Still no ******* way unless I wanted to cut into the water passages on the block. I’m thinking this mani is for a smaller size turbo.

So after failing twice I decided to quit being cheap and spend some more money like the second time I wanted to go with a cast Iron Mani cause of there durability. So I purchased a well-known 3.) Blox turbo mani, it fit on the head like a glove. However I ran into the same problem as the Turbonetics mani. Not as bad but still the turbo was not fitting. I’m thinking I need to cut more. Its kind of scary cuse I have butchered this block. I’m not to sad though cause I have a B18B1 (LS VTEC TURBO) that will be replacing the stock B16 block after its fully built.

I know its hard to say why its not fitting with out seeing the car, I will post PICS tonight of all the webbing I have cut out to try to make it fit. Its getting kind of hair pulling cause it’s a T3 / T04E turbo on a blox mani on a B16 should fit right? I have seen PICS of people cutting the webbing on a B18 but not on the B16. (8mm smaller) I’m sure with time I’ll figure it out, any help would be great though!

If any one has been though this before please share your experience.

which side is the compressor cover on your block, if its the compressor cover hitting your block webbing just switch the exhuast side to the passenger side on the block and your fitment issues should be fine...

Pictures will help.

I tried that and the compressor side (intake) hits the AC compressor. Unless some one on here has a better suggestion I think I’m going to take a serious chuck out of the block to make it fit. (even then its going to be close)

I had to shave the webbing a little to fit mine in there with an inline pro mani. I was kinda pissed, but it was no biggie. just get a grinder and take your time.

Is it a four bolt hot side or a 5 bolt? Those cast manifolds are designed around using a 5 bolt. A 4 bolt gets put too close to the block and fits poorly.

Doesn't someone make a block spacer for the Blox mannys? That would push your turbo out further from the webbing. not sure if it will still clear the condensor or not.
