Default Turbo Exhaust

So i decided that me and a friend will be doing my exhaust on my sol. I'll be getting 2.5in piping from SummitRacing (its 10 min from my house). the local muffler shops are asking for ~$400 for the full exhaust. And i can get 4 feet of 2.5inch tubing for 13 bucks.(http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-640025/) So I believe its worth a shot.

The questions are:
1. I have a turbo downpipe that is 2.25inches. would it be a good idea to go 2.5inches after the downpipe? or make a bigger downpipe? will it really even matter?
2. Does the size of the cat matter? when it comes time to getting smogged i want to be able to pass..there is some that are shorter than others. will any do?
3. I'll be installing a resonator to keep it as quiet as possible, should i instal one long one, or 2 short ones? I've read that different sizes change the tone at different RPMS..

I want this to be as quiet as possible. I wish i could leave it stock..
Havent made up my mind about the muffler yet. still looking for a reasonable priced, and quiet exhaust.
I like my stock sounding exhaust. I like being able to talk to someone while on the freeway...lol
I was also thinking about getting a stock muffler from a different car? if there even is one with a 2.5in...lol

THANKS!

EDIT: I'll be using a Greddy 15g Turbo, D16z6. hoping to hit ~180-190HP.

The 2.25" downpipe might be restrictive depending on how much hp you are looking for, but in general a 2.5" downpipe is a good size if you aren't looking for anything over 300 whp. Get a cat that is the width of your piping diameter. Vibrant makes a 3" high flow cat that I bought for $80. I'm not sure on the resonator. I just went with an 18" one. There's not a factor 2.5" muffler unfortunately, but the vibrant stealthpower flat black one seems to be quiet when you have a cat and resonator.

Thanks for the input!
Well im only looking to hit ~180-190 for now untill i build my block for boost later on.
Yeah thats what im probably gonna go with. A 2.5in cat, and resonator somewhere after cat(2.5)
Might be going with this cat http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MPE-53006/

Yeah i agree this exhaust sounds very quiet! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RlSBH...eature=related

Thanks again.

Ya the cat is where most of the sound gets cut out. So as long as you have a high flow cat and a resonator, and not a fart can, you'll be pretty quiet.

But i'll be running a cat in order to be able to pass the yearly smog tests here.

Thanks guys, i like the quietness of the Vibrant, so I will be going with the Vibrant muffler.

if you look up columbia river bending they make a 2.5" exhaust piping kit for your car, pretty cheap. good bends, not that crushed bullshit.

when i did my ef i used there kit with a magnaflow muffler, hi flow cat, and resignator, it was a nice quiet exhaust, no smells but i never did emissions testing.

im so sorry...i thought u were the dude with the hatch in the video.... you need a 2.5" muffler... a apexi ws turbo muffler would probably be good... or a thermal 2.5 muffler something of that kind... stock muffler is way to restrictive
