Icon2 Turbo emissions help

I have a 99 Civic with fully built and boosted GSR motor running 2.5" downpipe to 3" thermal exhaust no cat. I have moved to Texas and need to pass emissions/inspection to title and register vehicle in Tejas. Any recommendations on how to pass inspection? Shop today told me I needed a cat and secondary o2 sensor to pass. Currently running wide map o2 sensor. Will adding cat and o2 sensor cause check engine light to come on(also reason for failing inspection)? Thanks for all help!

you'll need to have an obd2 ecu to pass.

They wont pass you with Check engine light.... you will need CAT (for emissions, unless you can source some 100% ethanol to reduce hydrocardons etc...) and of course you will need an OBD2 ECU to get rid of check engine light.

Good luck.

I know several people who have engines they swap in when its time for emissions. Only takes a few hours. I tried and tried and tried but here in Colorado they run your car on a dyno to 60mph... My car easily goes into boost on it and fails every time especially when some punk kid is going for a stationary joy ride...

obd2 cars in most states only require a readiness check. except for california, which i believe still does the sniffer. obd1 and older have always been put on the rollers.

If you can get an obd2 without a CEL and you don't get a sniff or roller test then it should be easy. If not it gets a lot more complicated. All cars in CO emissions counties have to hit the rollers... not sure what its like in Texas but pray its not like here lol.

You could always move to North Dakota....cops here can't do anything more than unintrusive visual inspections. I passed off a section of flexpipe on my dp as a cat and there wasn't a thing he could do about it .

Try asking this in the Regional forums as well...someone local to the area may have a solution for your woes

Remove turbo kit, injectors, ect...

Cheap "header" with piping to convert to 3". You can install heat shields to pass visual like you have a catalytic converter. Run a O2 sensor bung extension (spark plug non-fouler drilled out) on the secondary O2 only. Also, put stock OBD-2 ECU for a B16 in and you will pass NON-California OBD-2 emissions as long as there isn't a thorough visual inspection.

Repeat process every 2 years... it's really simple and basic when you think about it. You must not know much about how fuel injection works that well...

Does Texas actually do an emission test or just a OBD2 readiness check? If its the later you can simply return the PGM-FI system back to stock like I do for NYS inspections. Stock OBD2 ECU, injectors, map, o2 sensors in cat, pump gasoline etc. I keep my turbo system in place too, just dont dont be heavy on the throttle or remove your wg spring. Drive it around until the readiness monitors set (either buy a scanner or have it scanned by parts store) then get it inspected. Win
