turbo d16 help and suggestions.
hey i have a d16z6 with 130k miles on it. id really like to boost it on stock internals but im not sure sure it will last. i REALLY want it to be my daily driver after i install a turbo still.
it would be a custom turbo kit. my friend is giving me a little turbo off a twin turbo 3000gt and side mount intercooler id just need to buy everything else.
i'd really love to hear some suggestions and opinions on this. i'd also like to know what anyone thinks this would cost (tuning included).

Re: turbo d16 help and suggestions.
it's a td04-13g ... it's small... flows about 360cfm... would make for quick spool...
sidemounts work, but front mounts are generally more efficient...
Do a compression test prior to buying this stuff to see what shape the motor is in, and go from there...
if you don't want to build the bottom end, this turbo will work ok for you... If you want to throw a set of vitara's and custom rods in there, then dream big

Just make sure your motor is still fine, dont worry about the milage. I just boosted my 99 dx d16 non-vtec and it made 196hp/190ft/lb tq bone stock, I have a 14b turbo @ 11psi.

Re: turbo d16 help and suggestions.
well the sidemount actually comes from a sr20det motor. my radiator is quite small and theres enough room to put the intercooler NEXT to the radiator for a little front mount. that is what i was PLANNING on doing. but thatnks for the help. i really just dont want to do this and then have my motor blow in 2 months b.c theres alot of miles on it. reliability is a big factor.
that's what I would do first, and then go from there...
If you are just looking for a bit of boost for a fun ride, that turbo and SMIC will be fine... make sure you get a good tune..
just remember.. boost is addictive.. buy another block and start building it ! :D
