turbo D idle problem
a couple of days ago i finished my turbo d16y7 project...except there is one problem. when i start the car, it idles great, but as soon as i rev it, or give it any gas at all, it wants to die. im going to be as descriptive as i can with my build to help out as much as possible. here is the build list
d16y7
HF manifold with custom adapter plate
t3 turbo 48 ex 54compressor, internal wastegate
obviously all of the oil lines
greddy fmic, mostly custom piping
bosch bypass valve
autometer boost and AF gauges
d16y8 intake manifold
DSM 390 cc injectors with resister box
boomslang fabrication obd conversion harness
p06 chipped with uberdata.
i think the problem is with the intake manifold. i think the pcv valve came unhooked, but could that cause this problem? ive double checked the rest of the lines, and they all appear to be right. i thought i had a bad tps sensor, because it didnt have good throttle response at all, so i swapped throttle bodies, and its doing the same thing. could it be the tune, or the injectors? the person that installed the injectors only used 18 gauge wire, even though i told him to use bigger wire
.i cant think of anything else that it could be, other than the o2 sensor plugged into the wrong plug. thanks in advance.

could the timing cause it to idle rough? i was thinkin i need to retard it a few degrees and re-gap my plugs. i guess you could say its a basemap. its a map that a friend of mine made specificly for this car.

well there you go...you said it yourself, it's a basemap. It isn't supposed to magically make your car run great.
You need to get it tuned first before you jump to any conclusions. Then see if you still have an idle problem.
usually idle problems come from these things:
TPS outta spec
Map outta spec
Vacuum leak
FITV bad (or needs adjusting)
IACV is bad/dirty/needs adjusting

that is what i was thinking too...i just dont want to drive it the way it is. do you think it could be something with the injectors?
it almost seems to be running rich but my af is right on. it doesnt make any sense. it must be timing. if there is a vacuum leak it could be throwing the tune off, am i right?

it almost runs fine, it just wants to die after i give it some gas. that is why i think its running rich...too much fuel will make it bog then want to die. i have an old camaro and whenever its running rich thats what it does. i know fuel injection is totally different when it comes to tuning, but its basic engine theory

Did you possibly switch you map and tps plugs by accident?
Bad or no map/tps will make the car do what you just described.
Make sure tps is within speck .45v closed, 5.0v open.

yeah, i thought i did the same thing, since the plugs are the exact same...but i switched them and the car sputtered and died. im going to check the tps, because it seems like i have a bad tps. i dont really know though. would it do the same thing if i had 2 injector switched? i havent even checked that yet

use voltmeter. You tap into the power wire of the TPS, not the constant voltage wire, the one that varies (red/black i think, could be wrong, check helms) check it with throttle closed, should be .45 or close, then it should also be 5.00 or close, with throttle fully open.
awesome, thanks. a guy on HMT said that i need to convert my iacv to obd1 by only using 2 wires...im reading up on it right now....
hopefully this helps the problem
