Turbo casting

Default Turbo casting

Just doing some maintenance on my car . While checking the manifold and turbo I come across this. Name:  image.jpg
Views: 1077
Size:  173.3 KB . I have had this turbo for 4 years and never saw this. Has this happen to anyone else. Btw it is a precision bb turbo.

That's just a hole at the bottom of the screw hole for the oil feed... It doesn't penetrate into the oil feed bore.

If it did you'd know it because everything under the hood would be drenched in oil and the turbo would be shot.

It's common for a blind hole near a thin part of a casting to break through.

It's nothing to worry about. There's a 99.999999999% certainty that it was there out of the box, you just never noticed it.

yeah, I am not worried about it. as ^^ said, oil would have been everywhere and the turbo will be shot.

Yup. Even if the hole wasn't there when it was new there was still a thin spot in the casting. Over time between vibration and heat cycling that thin spot broke loose.

But that's precision for ya
