Default turbo B20b

about the b20b engine
i got one from 97 cr-v
i plan to turbo it and put it in my 92 civic
i heared that its compression is 8.8:1
is that safty to a 15 psi of boost or i need to
replace a lower pistons?
and how flow of injectors i need to this?
is the exhaust manifold of this engine like
all the B series or different?
any ideas?
thnx

The pistons arent a problem, the sleeves are real thin though. Be gentle with her.

you will defiantly need larger injectors..........450cc at the minimum depending on how much power you want to make.

i say 550cc leave yourself some room for improvements later and a 255lph fuel pump and your set...be careful with those sleeves once denonated occurs means bye bye motor

A walbro 190 would be good enough for you..and so you know the stock map sensor is only good till around 10psi,,so if you want to go higher you'll need a different map sensor..tunertoys.com has good prices..

its not that,,,its that uni-sleeve design that makes those engines weak..

you don't have to worry about the sleeves.. the pistons will be the first thing to go upon bad detonation.

the sleeves arent thin....they're probably actually thicker then the rest of the b-series,,,its the unisleeve design that makes them weaker then the rest..

B20's are worthless and the sleeves crack very easy.

Here is why... http://dwolsten.tripod.com/articles/jan96a.html

Search if you need more info because there is plenty of info on HT to back up what I said...

EDIT: Don't listen to any of these fools that haves B20's who claim they are "fine" to boost, they got lucky if the sleeves haven't cracked and they just don't want to accept the facts.

Agreed, if your looking for more reliability I would stay around the 8-10 psi range, 15 psi is flirting with diaster, tuned properly you may be ok, but for reliability I would stay at 10 or under.

No one said it couldnt be done, I was simply saying less boost would be more reliable if he intends to use this as a daily driver. B20's arent junk as stated above, but 17 psi on a daily driver increases the likelyhood of breaking other **** plain and simple.

b20s will run fine up to 11psi on a good tune. i've never had a problem with mine.

guy who made the thread... do some damn reseach and then ask questions. no u can not lower compression by changing out the rods. u need to change out the pistons!
