Turbo B16 Not Making Power
Hi fellas
Heres a post coming all the way from Australia Ive currently just finished my turbo setup on a 00 SI and it isnt making any power (130kw at the wheels) obviously it should be making a whole lot more...
Heres what im running
B16A2
Blox manifold
Nissan T3 turbo
600x300 intercooler
38mm wastegate plumbed into exhaust
2.5" intercooler piping
2.5" downpipe to stock cat to 2.25" piping from cat back
Chipped P28 running Uberdata
450cc injectors
Techedge wideband
The air/fuel in boost is about 11.3-11.6 with peak ignition timing of 17degrees
The car spools great, full boost by about 3400rpm, but it feels like the car hits a brick wall after that. A friends car made 150 at the wheels and the revs just click over in an instant, wheel spins everywhere and its very fast compared to me Mine just isnt anything like that, revs dont click over and im still able to use the stock clutch without any slip
I seem to think it may be the exhaust and turbo, anyone have any thoughts?

Are you running Catalytic converter? If so check to make sure it is not CLOGGED bad, I had an old customer we installed a direct port nitrous kit onto a 99 Civic Si then later once he hit VTEC it felt like he hit a brick wall, his Cat was CLOGGED up!!! If you have one best thing to do is run it downpipe out and see if it improves. Timing I see is ULTRA CONSERVATIVE though too

Sounds just like my car, in the upper rpm band the car just runs like crap.. I might just disconnect the exhaust from the dump and see what happens
Timing is very conservative, i know

Re: (hartb16a1whitecrx)
Well spent a few hours this weekend on the car in an attempt to work some problems out..
The good: Replaced the old cat with a custom high flow item, checked over all the exhaust for blocks while i was at it. Took the car for a drive and it turned into an animal, the car wheel span everywhere once i hit vtec. So I can only imagine what it will be like once i **** off the small 2.25" exhaust, which in some places is actually 2" and get a larger 3" exhaust on
The bad: The turbo is completely fcuked.. On acceleration blue smoke piles out the exhaust, even on de-acceleration it does the same thing, idle is the same too unfortunatly. Thats the problem when you buy second hand turbos, lesson learnt for next time
A Garrett T3/T3 57trim .63ar has been ordered so that should fix up that problem.

Re: (Boostfed.com)
Theres more to the story now aswell..
If I accelerate and drop off the throttle for a few seconds and then get back on it, white smoke piles out the exhaust for about 2-3 seconds..
It doesnt do it at any other time other then this
I checked the radiator, same colour green and i havnt used any water. I checked the dipstick and the oil is nice and gold. I checked under the oil cap and there is no signs of water. The car doesn't overheat and the radiator overflow is staying at the same level it has always been at
NFI what the **** is going on, but its only happened ever since i bashed the honeycomb out of the cat

Re: (Lvnit)
just a theory, but what are you using for your oil feed?? It sounds like the addition of the cat has lowered your back pressure, which is good for a turbo. HOwever, the pressure is used to seal the oil in the turbo, could be you are getting too much oil now, and by restricting via a smaller line, could fix the problem. But a bigger turbo would be best anyways
