Which Turbo !!!
I plan on making 250whp on a B16.
One friend says the GT28RS is too small and the power will fall off at high RPM and to go with T4/T04E. Another friend says the GT28RS is a great turbo to make 250+ whp and will not fall off at higher RPMs. I have researched and they say go with the Garrett GT28RS.
Which one would you choose !!

D16s loost power much quicker/easier than b16's, so keep that in mind. I'd rather have boost fall off a bit near the end in exchange for much quicker (1000 rpm) spool up.

If this stock gsr can keep the torque up, I wouldn't see why you'd want a t3/t04e, besides lag-induced traction control - and price.

This LS does a great job for nonvtec...
All said, 250whp is 250whp, you would just need a bit more boost if it was to fall off. The gt28rs is good for ~300whp max (honda w/pump gas), the t3/t04e 50trim for ~350whp, the 57trim for ~400whp on a b16. Just be realistic with your goal, and pick the turbo with the max closest to that goal.

A t3/t04e is like $500 cheaper than the gt28rs for one thing, and has significantly more power potential. Even a t25 could make around 250 and cost wayyy less. The answer is very clear imo.

Its cheaper, yes, but the GT28RS is capable of more power as well, with a little modification.

Thats all i want to make !! It just sounded like you were saying the GT28RS couldnt make more power !

Well it sounds like you're set on the rs, so what is your question then? The fact is that both can make well over 250, but one is $500 less, so I don't see why you wouldn't want to save some money. Is spool your concern? Because a 50 trim would spool nicely...and is this just a daily driver or what?

Its my daily driver. The RS just seems to be a all around better turbo for what im looking for. Newer, quicker spool, capable of making more power if needed (rated for 320hp)

Man U FTW
If you want a fun daily driver, the GT28RS would be a great turbo for you. It is small and limited to about 320whp on an unbuilt bottom end. If you went with a T3/T04 setup you could make more power out of it, but you will lose the low end power. I have a 60 trim on my GSR and i get boost around 4500rpm with a log manifold. Also, on 9psi i make 275whp which is enough to have some fun....

you will like it then you will want more. get something that you can upgrade in the future because you will want to. If you don't believe me then thats your problem.

OK, the GT28RS is capable of being upgraded, but I guess thats just my problem !!!

Re: Which Turbo !!! (9civichatch3)
I'm about to build a turbo motor and piece together a turbo kit. From what I understand from alot of people is that you'll always want more power. Is this so? I don't want to buy a turbo just to find that 3 months later I want more. I was thinking about an SC60-1. I was told that these were a good purchase for making sick power levels while retaining a good streetable powerband. Since my head is going to be ported, I figure I'll be able to see boost atleast another 500rpm sooner than the typical rpm for that turbo on a b16. The head will flow 320+CFM. Let me know what you guys think. (This could help the original poster in a way)
