Default tuning question j-k tuning

so im boosting my b18b. I sent my ecu to j-k-tuning. Im using a p28 and i had him chip my ecu to use 450cc fuel injectors and a t25 setup. Now i understand that i will be able to plug in my ecu and it will run the car but its just a basemap. How do i tune using the basemap? Is there a way for me to hook a computer up to it and do a street tune with crome or uberdata or something? How do i hook up to my ecu and tune?

You need to buy the tuning hardware. There's plenty of information available on sites like Moates.net, pgmfi.org, etc.

It all depends if the person who chipped your ecu set it up for datalogging. "Tuning" is a completely different aspect, and if you don't understand the basics, I wouldn't suggest you do your own tuning without some research.

Just take it to John and let him tune it!

Id say by the original post you dont know much about tuning and stick to paying for a good tune from a reputable tuner or shop. Plenty of tuners out there that do street tuning for cheaper or get a lockdown tune from a good shop.

i would have just asked john this question as he could give you the best answer

if your ecu is setup with the header pins for datalogging then you could buy all the stuff to tune your own car, but then it comes down to if you trust yourself

that ecu is setup so that you can start up your car, check for leaks and have it ready to take to a tuner

by the way it sounds, you dont know too much about tuning a car if i were in your situation(and i was and still am since i have my car tuned by john) i'd just take the car to him to have it tuned.. from what it sounds like, you had him send you a basemap which is just that. it is a map for your car to start and idle and not boost unless you have a wideband o2 sensor to monitor your a/f ratios, and a boost gauge to make sure you're not overboosting the motor. you can drive the car and not have it go into boost.

i would put in the basemap into the socket in the ecu, start the car, let it idle, check for leaks, make sure its not overheating and make sure everything is running and working properly on the car then give john a call(or whoever you want to tune it, i would recommend john, he is a stand up guy and will go out of his way to help you)

when you take the car to get it tuned make sure you take at least an extra set of pregapped spark plugs, and make sure your car is running right... it makes for a much easier day at the dyno and alot less of a headache for the tuner.

just my .02 hope it helps!

If you are within a hr or two of J-K then you should let him tune your car.
