Tuning ignition advance
I have a question regarding how to tune your ignition map...(on any standalone)
assuming you have enough fuel at a given rpm, do you then set your ignition advanced as far as possible without detonating?
my DSM buddy says: " assuming you've got enough fuel, then peak power occurs right on the detonation threshold"
can you be advanced TOO far and lose power without knocking? basically i am saying you ignite the mixture too early and its not optimizing the usage of the fuel...
i'll be tuning without any boost for now, i guess it doesnt make a difference boost vs NA...

Yes, power will fall off if you're too advanced or too retarded. Typical tuning procedure is to advance timing until you either hear knock or the power starts to drop, and then retard it until power starts to fall off again - peak power is kind of a plateau effect; as you advance, you should reach peak power and then power should pretty much level off until you hit detonation. You'll never lose a significant amount of power by tuning your ignition a few degrees conservative.

is 1044 (mbar) incdicating full load, WOT?
so it looks like timing at part throttle is generally advanced compared to WOT.

i am guessign that timing retard around 5000rpm is for the vtec changeover...
