Trap and et's for automatic cars
I just searched and red all about how E/Ts and traps can be related in most cases...
My question is since realistically the best 60' I can get with an auto is about 2.6 (on a good day), and say my trap was 100-105 should I be hitting 14's fairly easily?
My first 2 runs were 16.0@89mph and 15.9@90mph... couldn't tell you if traction was perfect or not, but my best 60' was 2.734 (bad launch).
Next time I goto the track I plan on holding 3rd gear out the whole 1/4 so I don't shift to 4th like I did the first 2 times I went to the track. Now 3rd on an auto goes up to 110mph before redlining (I tested this out already).
Any feedback is welcome.

checc it out..i have an automatic 4door....yah, u can get a better 60ft ...jus powerbrake that ****, but might mess ur auto tranny..and run it out i 3rd....that way u dont have to worry bout the stupid 4th shifting and fuccin u time....i ran a 16.6@87mph n/a wit aem intake skunk2 manifold header and exhaust..if u power brake...and just floor it in 3rd..u should do fine....and crank ur boost to like 8 or somethin....ur LS blok should be able to handle that safely...u could run more, but ur tranny might not hold and yah....
Exactly, the engine can take it like a champ I know (cept I need some tuning)... but the tranny is what I worry about.... how far in rpms do you get when power braking.. I never look but it feels like 2000+ rpms before the brakes start to give a little.
Also whats your best 60' time?

don't feel bad .. haha i ran a 15.8@91 MPH with a 2.7 or 2.8 60 foot with a 50 shot nitrous on 17's etcc, change to some lightweight 14' wheels ., the 17's are prob killin ya a lot. I still wonder how people here on honda tech can manage to pull 2.2 60 foots in their automatic intgra
is there something im missing here ? oh yeah .. my launches are with powerbraking etcc, .. i think next time befor the light changes im just gonna punch the gas while holding hte brake for a split second before i launch so i dont overheat the torque converter .. damn it sucks changing from a 5 speed LS to an automatic.. $&#*(&$*#(Q

well the 17's might be hurting but they weigh considerably less then the stock 15's... seriously and the diameter is exactly the same, just less tire..
anyway, what your saying about punching the gas while on the brake to launch is power braking... but if your gonna floor it while on the brakes your going to hurt the tranny ALOT more then the slow power brake up to about 2000rpm... trick is to let go of the brakes at the 3rd yellow right before the green... thats how someone I know gets 2.6 60's :D

when my hatch was turbo ls auto'd, my 60's were 2.2 all night with an occasional 2.1. never went down quarter but 1/8th miles were 8.6 at 85mph. of course a heavier turbo auto car is going to be much slower as i have a friend with the same setup as mine still but it was in a del sol. he was about a whole sec slower and the del sol is only 3-400 lbs heavier i think. the boosted auto shifts like a champ when there isn't lots of weight on it. i always got better launches the destructive way by revving it to 5k and putting it in gear. doing that only made my tranny last two months and i was racing every other weekend on 6 psi only. i would brake launch every now and then and it will stall around 2k-2,300rpms but i got much worse 60's. don't know what to tell you other than honda auto trannys aren't made to handle boost. i know several that failed quickly after being boosted...so i did the 'conversion' because i kinda had to.
Problem is... newer auto tegs like mine you can't even nuetral drop... not that I would EVER think about it or do it cause its insta garunteed death to a honda auto... but if you try it it revs all the way down before going into gear... its weird but a good idea... actually I think only 00 and 01 models have this cause I could chirp doing n-drops back when I first got the car when I was a stupid moron riceboy.

nothin crazy...just power braked till about 3psi was building then waited for the last yellow light and just floored it before the green light is there. you can't wait for that light...you have to anticipate it and just time your launch with the green.
sheesh i hope you can do bette rthan 15 seconds with a turbo kit on......... i think i can do that with my na auto.
getting good 60's time with an auto is all about the low end tq obviously and also being light. so cars around 2700-2800 lbs will be hard to get a low 60's. also if you got parts for fast speed.. like the skunk 2 manifold it'll hurt some low end power and cause you to be slower from the start. but looking at your trap speed it seem to made up for itself. 89 mph trap speed is pretty good even for a stick. although 89 mph you should be seeing close to high 14's with a decent laungh. at least it would be in a manual.
