Default transmission decisions. help please

I just sold my GSR trans for a REALLY good price. So I am in the market for another transmission. Im running a straight up LS Turbo. Its mildly built.... rods, pistons. headwork. ya know.... Im looking for 400 whp. Ill be on the street for the most part but at the track on 22" slicks. should i stick with the gsr trans or should i go with a LS trans for the longer gears and highway milage?

i think it really depends on your use for the car.....if you're going to use it at the track a lot, then the GSR tranny would be a better buy. If you're going to use it as a DD, then the LS is probably better since you're not going to be running around at 4k all the time....

---personally i think the LS might be a better choice

i want it to be productive in both aspects. maybe i should do a gsr trans with a LS 5th gear? the problem is. LS transmissions are like 400 bucks and GSR transmissions are like 6-700.

i would go with the ls tranny. you said it was a straight ls, because the ls tranny is geared for the ls torque curve.

I love the GSR tranny. Its the middle ground between LS and ITR/B16 gears. The only downside is the 5th gear. Id prefer the longer LS 5th too.

i dont wanna shift to 5th on the track and i think that with 400 whp i should be okay with the LS trans.

well I wouldnt expect you to be shifting into any 5th gear at the track unless your trapping over 120mph!

with a stock rev limit of 7200, usually shifting around 7k, i was shifting into 5th with my GSR with 22's. altho it was right AT the line. i had to do it. ive beefed up the valve train a bit so i might to to 7800 with this setup. well see
