Default Which tranny for LS-t

Alright I did a search on it but didn't find which tranny i should use on B18B(stock)-boosted w/60-1 and full race mani.I have a ls tranny on the motor now but I have to swap a clutch out and i have a extra B16 tranny(for spare) so i was wondering if i should just throw on the b16 tranny with the clutch or just install the clutch and put back the LS tranny? Im asking and hopefully some people will help insted of flame..

Search harder this is asked all the time.

It really depends what you want. Are you going to be using the car only for drag racing and not much highway driving? If so go with the b16. If you are going to be doing a lot of highway driving stay with the ls.
I had a gsr tranny and hated it on the highway. 80mph at 4K rpm's The b16 would be worse then that. I just put my ls tranny in, but have not taken it to the track yet to see how much it slowed me down. Hope that helps

Yeah I'm in the same boat. I usually drive on the highway frequently. Plus the highway runs you catch. Not that many, but you would still like to win. I'd say if you don't have the money, I'd do an LS with LSD which is probably the route I'm taking. For quicker acceleration gsr/b16 would get those revs up there quicker.

I'm gonna be shifting at stock Redline of 6900 on the LS. So if it gets up there too fast....limiter......Doh

I've tried both and quite honestly, I miss my LS tranny. I'm running a (S1 I think, I don't remember) tranny out of an early SIR just cuz it doesn't grind but man am I paying for it. Not only is it loud on the highway, but I'm forever shifting cuz I run out of revs so quickly. Also, IMO, I swear my LS tranny felt faster to the butt dyno. I was also able to pull away from cars much faster. (I never did get a chance to clock either setups on boost but it was just observation)

HTH

Ls tranny worked perfect for my old car...HP level was 250-300 whp...Some people will say gsr or b16, I would say that would be ok for around 200 whp or so, but to put it into perspective, I was going through the traps at about 118-120 mph at the top of 4th gear with a 24" tall tire with the ls tranny!!! A gsr or b16 tranny would of forced me to get a 25 or 26" tall tire!!!See where I am going with this??
