Default which tranny is best for boost? (sohc) HELP!!!!

i have a 94 cx hatch. putting in z6/turbo. all i am lacking is the ex tranny. the ex is geared real close and fast.... the cx is geared really long and geras arent very tight. half of me thinks that the cx would cover more mph for gear, which means i stay spooled longer and still have low rpm for highway riving (daily driver). and also i think that being able to hit probably around 45ish in 1st and around 70ish in 2nd would help with traction and killer 1/8 times.

but then i come back to logics and think. my cx rev limiter is at 5800. so the gears arnt meant to spin at 7k rpm. they sure arnt meant for about 215whp. and i think that cuz the gears are long, t would take a lot more power to turn em... which is what makes me think that the ex tranny would be better.

can anybody tell me what you run, and your veiws on this. should i keep the cx, or buy th ex?

and also sorry for the long post.i am just confused and tring to figure out what would be best? 3rd gear on cx @ 5500 prm is like 110mph or so. vs 3rd gear (ex) is 93mph @ 7200.

would my 0-110 be faster with ex shifting like hell, or with the cx chillen like it is an automatic..heh?

I run the ex tranny on my turbo z6 after running the dx tranny for a year and I think the ex was well worth the money. The ex is the shortest of the d series but its still not that short compared to a lot of the b series trannys. The first and second gear felt a bit shorter due to the final drive on the ex but are still the same gear ratios. Third and fourth on the other hand pull way harder because they both have closer ratios combined with the shorter final drive. It made my car accelerate noticably faster.

you need the z6 tranny. our z6 tranny has the same basic ratio as the LS. you can notice that if you ever go up against one.

the dx/cx trannies are waaaaaaaaaaaay too long.

z6/y8 tranny. Preferably the Y8 tranny because of the steel shifter forks. This kind of goes to that bs about the LS tranny being best for boost which it isn't. Longer gear ratios are never better (except for gas mileage). It is always better to have shorter gear ratios.

When I had my stock DX tranny, the only advantage I see is that it pulled harder from about 60-100MPH, reason being that that was the bread and butter for that tranny. Now I have a 95 Si tranny, and it's better from 0-60 but only lacks a little top end because 3rd only goes to 85 rather than 100. But the EX/Si tranny is better in my opinion turbo or n/a

Are you sure? My DX tranny lags from 60-100. It moves out from 0-60 though. My first goes roughly to about 30, second to 60, third to 90, fourth to about 110 and fifth sucks because it cuts out at 120.
