Trailer park Water Intercooler
Here was my current setup
Its getting to heat soaked this summer at the drag strip. My solution is a water intercooler + dry ice or liquid CO2.
Here are is a shots of the fitment
The intercooler is from an all trac toyota celica, it was a pain in the butt to locate.

look at the bottom pic, the water intercooler is in the car next to the throttle body. not the one on the ground..

I would run both the air to air and the air to water as the air to water unit will get heatsoaked in the engine bay. If you have ever run a toyota that runs that intercooler you will know what I am talking about. We ran a celica with that same intercooler at an autocross and when we were done popped the hood and took and infared thermometer and shot the intercooler it was at 185 degrees. That my friend isnt alot better than no intercooler at all.

Dont the toyotas actually run the intercooler through the motor radiator to cool it? I would see that as a very big down fall. In my setup the water IC will have its own radiator. When I head to the track I'm going to put some dry ice in that radiator ;-). See if I can get the temps down on the track. I know that it wont be the best daily driver intercooler, but I'm different.

oh i see. missed that before. neat idea but very hard to impliment on a street car. fits in there nicely too.

Part 2: The water radiator(ghetto), marine pump and storage, and charge pipe mod
In this step I have been working on the water lines, radiator and container.
Modifying the probe intercooler to make it a radiator
What I did is remove the intake ports, then I got some sheet metal I had around and make circles to close the ports. I have drilled on the side of the intercooler a spot for two nipples. The problem was the two nipples needed to be on the same side, but for getting the 'oldest' water, I needed to pull the water from the other side of the intercooler. What I did was put a hose on the end of the a nipple before I inserted into the intercooler. The hose allows you will get the water from the other side of the intercooler, problem solved.

Here is the trailer park radiator finished. It holds water fine, doesnt show any leaks.. yet.
Now working with the water reserve,
I purchased a 6 gallon fuel tank from walmart and a marine pump.
While examining the pump the ports looked like the same size as my 5 gallon water container(which also came from walmart, Yikes!). So I conected the two and it was a match.
Next will be to add a return port to the 5 gallon container.
Here is a mod I did to also help with the heat, 92-95 have the air tempature sensor on the manifold, that was a dumb idea they fix 96+. Here is my fix I'm put the sensor directly after the water intercooler, I hope this will keep the ecu from pulling my timing.
