Default water spraying on the intercooler?!?!

I´ve read some articel about the Mitsu EVO VII and this car is spraying water on the i/c. The Rallydriver said, that you can realy feel the power increase, when the water is going on the i/c. They have modified the water spray bow about 6 hours to get the best cooling effect. Charge air went down to 40 degrees C.

Now, on high boost application, would that be an good idea?!?

I remeber matt3/t4 from superhonda.com talking about re-routing windshield washer sprayers to spary on the intercooler, he said it makes a pretty decent difference.

I wouldn't suggest using the winshield washer sprayers to spray onto the intercooler. For the best results, the water that is being sprayed onto the intercooler should be atomized. You can buy special nozzles for this effect. I think that autospeed.com has a write-up on how to make an intercooler water sprayer. If I remember correctly, they even list all the part numbers (for the nozzles, pump, etc.). HTH

One of the nitrous (NAAAWWS) companies out there makes an intercooler nitrous spray bar kit. Chilly

Using NOS is way better than water, esp for the fact NOS aint gonna get under your tires and make you crash, water is ok to use if you injected it directly into the motor,it has intercooling effect when its done right

Tracks do not like water being sprayed onto the intercooler for the simple fact that it gets all over the track. I would suggest water injection over the intercooler spraying, it is more effective and has other benefits which far outweight the intercooler spraying.

bQQsted, what you're talking about is water injection. Simple water sprayed onto the outside of an IC to cool it down doesn't need to be atomized. Injection is where it is atomized into the intake tract.

Actually it is helpful to atomize an IC spray as much as possible - when the water is sprayed in a fine mist, a good portion of it immediately vaporizes, dropping the air temperature around the IC as well as wetting it for further evaporative cooling. Ever seen those misters at a theme park that cool you down? Same deal.

The effectiveness of a water spray is largely determined by the droplet size; a very fine water mist gives the potential to quickly absorb the most heat. Go to autospeed.com and look for the article on "Intelligent Intercooler Water Spray". You'll find all the information you'll need on intercooler water spraying.

Nitrous Express makes the cooling system for your FMIC. It spray a fine mist of NOS on the fins. VERY EFFECTIVE. I'll be investing in this kit some time down the road. I've seen it help drastically at higher boost levels.

Did it on my car. Used the rear wiper washer pump. Ran hoses to the front IC and put 2 misters. Run 50/50 water/ alcohol. Try these sites http://www.autospeed.com/search.html...ray+&x=20&y=23

yup you are correct, fine mist works best. what u have is increased surface area..This allows more water molecules to come in contact with air....more contact, more heat absorbtion....more cooling

Look at the NFL then have mist fans on the sidelines because the cool the best.!
