Torque steer issues.....
I know that most all of us has it. Well, the people that dont have LSD or radius arms do.
Anyways, now that Im newly turbo'd I notice that I have it very bad.
What i did to remedy this was take off the power steering belt. It has successfully taken a lot of it away.
Is this a bad thing to do? I mean, as long as there is still fluid being ran through the steering rack its all right? Steering is a bit stiffer, but I would sacrifice it rather than have the car jump from side to side like a **** while trying to hang on with one hand and shift with the other.
Sorry for the somewhat useless post, just thought I would ask your guys thoughts on this....

Well, it doesnt let the power steering do its job--making the wheels turn easier.
I cant explain it in writing. If you take off the belt and give it a try, then you should notice some improved straight line control. I noticed it anyways.....
Then again I might have slightly different tire pressures between the 2--I forgot to check the pressures in the front wheels before I went ahead and took off the belt.

don't know.. i've just gotten used to controlling the obsurd torque steer that i experience, especially at high boost. I couldn't live without my power steering!!
Yes i'm very lazy
hehe

i could see what youre sayin... but when a car picks up enuff speed... steering doesnt become that hard to do. torque steer would actually push you forward pretty quick enuff to leer you to the left or right... without the sensitivity of power steering, i can see how it would create more resistance to it. i like the luxury of power steering.. i rather keep it.
It's not too bad, I did it with my prelude a long time ago. I have that phantom grip, and I still notice some under hard boost. I am going to try without the p/s when I put my engine back together, i'm looking to get the a/c and p/s ribs removed from the crank pulley.
As far as it being a bad thing to do, well I had it off for a good year and no problems with the rack leaking or anything. There has been discussion of draining the fluid, or replacig with a manual rack, but I don't think it will matter much regarding torque steer. A good lsd will be on your shopping list I bet.
